In pretty much 20 minutes from now Google will be going live with their Nexus event and, of course, they will also be live streaming the entire thing for anyone who can’t actually be there. During today’s keynote at the Oculus Connect event, Samsung announced a new headset that will be an improvement over the current one, and that it will cost a mere $99 as well. How exactly it will be better wasn’t really expanded upon too much, but it will work with more phones.
Almost a week ago exactly, Amazon’s rumored new 4K Fire TV went through FCC filing, letting us take an early look at the company’s next set-top box. Today Amazon has officially announced their new 4K Fire TV unit, with two different packages being available at the beginning of October. One of those packages is being called Fire TV Gaming Edition.
Yesterday Apple held their event where they announced a few new products like the iPad Pro tablet, which is big and expensive, as well as Apple TV. Well hot off the heels of Apple debuting their new TV platform, Amazon apparently has a 4K version of Amazon Fire TV that looks to be arriving any day now. Let the set-top box wars begins!
You may remember last week when it was reported that Google’s modular Android phone called Project Ara was being ‘recalculated’ and that there was a possible change in plans coming to the project. The Project Ara Twitter account, where all of this was originally announced, also stated that we can expect more updates to arrive this week. Those updates have begun and the first one is that the release of Project Ara is being delayed till sometime in 2016.
After a somewhat long period of silence Google’s Project Ara Twitter account sprang to life yesterday with a few tweets updating everyone with what is going on with the project. As it turns out, the news wasn’t the best we could have had, but it wasn’t the worst either.
