Black Friday is almost upon us and when that day arrives, the general population of the United States loses their minds and goes on a shopping spree. Of course this is because every merchant puts all their goods on sale with deep discounts. Nvidia is planning to jump in on the action with offering up a Black Friday sale for their Shield Portable and their 32GB LTE Shield Tablet.
We have been following the progress of the Lollipop update since it was announced that the Nvidia Shield Tablet would be the first commercial product outside of the new Nexus series of devices that would be receiving the new Android OS. Well the update is right on time and is now being pushed out to Nvidia Shield owners.
Nvidia has pushed out a new update for the older brethren of the Shield Tablet today. The Shield Portable has had update 99 pushed to it and this particular update features battery improvement, bug fixes and some other issues being resolved as well.
Nvidia is gearing up to release the new version of the Android OS called Lollipop onto the company’s Shield Tablet soon and yesterday they released a video showing off Lollipop on said tablet along with some of the cool features we can expect to see when it arrives as an OS update using the Simple Software Update feature on the tablet.
Technology is pretty wonderful these days, allowing us to pretty much do what we want with just about anything we want. This includes making games that use virtual reality, different objects as controllers, and various other wondrous things for us to enjoy as gamers. Virtual Reality is certainly becoming a pretty interesting sector of the video gaming industry to watch. There are plenty of companies doing the whole Virtual Reality thing with headsets of their own. This really stems from the Oculus Rift doing so well before being sold to Facebook. Archos is planning on getting into the Virtual Reality scene with a headset as well which will be available this November.
If you are not yet sold on getting an Nvidia Shield Tablet for your Android gaming needs, this morning Nvidia began teasing on Twitter that there are a bunch of new features coming to their tablet, the biggest one being Android 5.0 Lollipop.
While we may not have posted any of the rumors or leaks for the next Nexus device that have been circulating the internet over the past couple of months, we have definitely been keeping an eye on the development of such as device. Today Google has officially announced the Nexus 9 tablet and this time the new Nexus device will be coming from HTC, the Nexus 6 phone and the Nexus Player.
Emulating another operating system on a platform not native to said operating system isn’t a new thing. There are plenty of emulators out there that can emulate just about anything you want, even on a platform like Samsung Gear Live. So while putting Window95 onto your Gear Live might seem a bit odd of an idea at first, until the cool factor sets in. Of course playing DOOM on it definitely adds to that.
The first of Nvidia’s line of gaming-centric Android devices, the Nvidia Shield has done pretty good for itself. There are still a couple of items being tweaked though regarding the device’s software and Nvidia has kept working on supporting the device and today we get Update 92 which fixes some of these software issues.
