Mad Catz is known for making some of the funkiest looking gaming peripherals known to mankind, with half of them looking like they belong in a Transformers movie. Well the company s expanding their business model and getting into not only the mobile gaming scene but the wireless gaming scene as well in regards to SmartTVs.
It seems like Asphalt 7: Heat only just came out yesterday, but Gameloft isn’t resting on their laurels and are already into the deep development stage for the next game in the series, titled Asphalt 8: Infinity. We actually already knew of the existence of this game when Gameloft’s entire 2013 line-up was leaked, but now there’s in-game footage and a leaked developer’s diary to confirm everything.
For those of you who may have found the original MOGA game controller a bit small to handle, there is good news on the horizon as PowerA has officially announced the MOGA Pro Controller which is a full-sized console-style unit. Remember the other console style controller in the original promo images for the MOGA unit? It’s that one.
Plenty of Tegra 4 news will be happening this week as you probably have already guessed from this morning alone, but it seems that Vizio will be the first company to have a Tegra 4 Android tablet, or at least announce one. They even have an early version of the tablet here at CES for all of us to fondle relentlessly.
Last night during the nVidia press conference it was all about gaming except for perhaps 1% which focused on photos. One of their announcements which caught a lot of people off guard was that nVidia has been working on their own portable entertainment system (let’s be real though, it’s all about gaming) called Project Shield. This little package of awesome will sport a Tegra 4 chipset and pure Android, as in no crappy secondary UI layered over it.
As you all already know by now, the Tegra 4 chip and the Nvidia Project Shield handheld console, which we will talk about after this, were announced at a special event yesterday night before CES 2013 began officially. Naturally, with the launch of nVidia’s latest mobile processor launch, they have unveiled a selection of games that will arrive on the platform in the coming months.
It’s safe to say that this year marked major leaps and bounds for the Android platform. On the technical side, Jellybean demonstrated the maturity of Google’s OS, visually smoothing many jagged edges and packing MORE new features which Apple will inevitably emulate and sue for. Most notably for gamers, multi-user profiles gave way to sighs of collected relief as roommates everywhere can now stop “accidentally” deleting game progress by starting new games; parents can now finally fork over their slates to their kids without the fear of their little ones finding… in-app purchases.
Over the past few months we have mentioned here and there that we have been working on a secret project that isn’t the site redesign. We have managed to keep our mouths shut about this project, which was very hard to do I might add, in order to keep it a surprise. Well the project is done and we are happy to finally reveal what it is. Ready?
Well, we did mention that now developers or people with a fair amount of money to blow would be receiving their OUYA development kits over the past week and that videos would start appearing more and more, we now have a good look at the graphics and performance of OUYA running Android games simply installed using their .apk files without any porting having been done.
Google Play is an integral part of an Android gamer’s life, as one would most probably purchase games from there. Yes, there are alternatives such as the Amazon Appstore, but Google Play is the default choice in this respect. As such, it is important that Google Play is set-up in such a way that it can further augment a gamer’s experience while browsing for new games. Here’s 5 changes we hope Google would see fit to implement in the near future.
