We recently posted an article about games to try out this summer and in that article one of the games suggested was a game called Angry Birds by Rovio. Angry Birds is a hugely popular iPhone game that the developers are porting over to Android with the intention of releasing it this summer for Android consumption. Well here is a bit more information on it.
While attempting to flash my Nexus One back to Android 2.1 for some development testing I noticed that the crew over at AndroidSpin have posted that the Official Tetris game by EA is now available on the Android market. The official version of the game has been available since Android’s release it was only available for purchase on outside market websites like Mobihand.
Arena is a 3D third-person shooter for your Android phone where you are in an arena and your job is to destroy everything that comes at you using the various weapons you have. This is game strictly about shooting your enemies and destroying them while not focusing at all on any sort of storyline. This is purely to get your shooting game fix when you have a few minutes to kill.
Word Drain is a word puzzle game developed by MichaelRanch Software. While word puzzle games are all good if you enjoy those types of games, there happens to be a ton of them on the Android market. How does Word Drain stack up to the rest of them? Well you’re about to find out as we review this new word puzzle game just released onto the Android market.
Over at AndroidCommunity they just released a leaked photo of what is being dubbed the Saumsung Galaxy S Pro. While we here at Droid Gamers have been supporting the Samsung Galaxy S as the reigning gaming phone to get when it hits stores, the Pro version offers up just a little more incentive…a full QWERTY keyboard to make gaming just a bit more easy.
I think the developer for this game, Falling Domino, says it best in the game description: “Do you remember when we were kids, we used to arrange dozens of Domino tiles in long chains, and then toppled the first to make them all fall?”. I don’t know about anyone else but I remember doing that and now you can on your Android phone!
Unity3D is a great 3D engine made for game developer to use in the creation of their 3D games. This engine covers everything from browser based MMORPGs to PC games, iPhone/iPad to console games and not so long ago announced it would be supporting Android game development with an Android version of their engine. It was just announced that pre-sales will be starting shortly.
In what could be the first true port of an online MMORPG, Vendetta Online is on it’s way to Android with a 100% port. Guild Software just announced that is plans to completely port their online space MMORPG to Android and plan to demo it at E3 this year. Vendetta offers RPG mixed with ‘Twitch’ gaming and PvP in a sci-fi atmosphere.
Tank Recon 3D, developed by Lone Dwarf Games Inc, is a full 3D (OpenGL ES) first person shooter tank game where you pilot your tank and using your cannon or guided missiles, blowing up enemy tanks and airplanes. This game features some great high detailed 3D graphics, dogfight style gameplay and all the exploding goodness you can handle.
Meteor Deluxe (a.k.a Meteor Breakout) is a Arkanoid/Block Breaker game, developed by Mobile Stream and published through Chillingo, that is designed for all the WVGA screens out there. While there is also a version for all other screen types available on the Android market, I decided to try out the WVGA (Deluxe) version and see how it stands up to other Arkanoid games.
