Tetris Released Onto Market

While attempting to flash my Nexus One back to Android 2.1 for some development testing I noticed that the crew over at AndroidSpin have posted that the Official Tetris game by EA is now available on the Android market. The official version of the game has been available since Android’s release it was only available for purchase on outside market websites like Mobihand.

Tetris Clones Yanked Off Market

Word has just got out that pretty much every single Tetris close has been yanked off the Android market following a C&D order sent to Google from The Tetris Company LLC. 35 separate titles have been named in the DMCA notice that requests Google to pull them from the Android market which they now have been. We’ve managed to dig up copy of the DMCA notice.

Pac-Man 30th Anniversary

Coming right on the heels of the Google I/O conference ending is the 30th Anniversary of Pac-man and to celebrate it Google, in their usual fashion, changed the graphic on their search page to show the game with the word Google built into the stage. Google’s Gaming Commitment

It seems Google is still pushing forward to show their commitment to games and gaming on Android. First it was hiring a Game Developer Advocate for Android, then the purchase of LabPixies and now it is a job posting for a Product Management Leader For Games. This job is for a Google position and not completely dedicated to Android, although I’m sure it’ll be a large part of the job.

LabPixies Bought By Google

Google takes another step forward in it’s quest to take gaming on the Android platform seriously by purchasing LabPixies. LabPixies was one of the first companies to start building gadgets for iGoogle and shortly after the release of the Android OS started building games and apps. Currently they have 4 puzzle games and one app available on the Android market.
