It’s an exciting time to be a mobile gamer. Just two days ago we got a news update from nVIDIA on their latest mobile GPU tech – the Tegra K1. The biggest news for us this time is actually the announcement of the first device to use this new GPU – the Xiaomi Mi Pad 7.9.

Nvidia has done pretty good with their Nvidia Shield portable Android gaming system, especially with the updates as of late improving all the features that gamers have wanted to have improved including the GameStream technology and button mapping. A new benchmark report from AnTuTu now has the Nvidia Shield 2 specs showing up.
Not too long ago Google announced that they were indeed working on a modular phone which was called Project Ara. At that time there was not real date as to when we would see this phone hit the market so consumers could purchase it. Well word is that we will see this modular phone hitting stores sometime next year in January.

As many of you know, Amazon a couple of days ago held a press conference and announced their new set top box called Fire TV. While there is plenty of news about this, there’s also a decent amount of gaming news regarding Fire TV. For starters, Gameloft has already begun optimizing their games for Amazon’s set top box.
Facebook buys Oculus Rift for $2 billion, what does this mean for the mobile gaming compatibility?
Well this is probably the biggest surprise we’ve had in quite some time. Facebook has purchased the virtual reality hardware maker Oculus Rift for $2 billion. You’re probably wondering why in the hell we are covering this. We are because the Oculus Rift was going to have Android compatibility in gaming and now we have no idea what future this has, if any at all.
There are plenty of Android-powered game consoles already out for consumers to get their hands on and another one up on Kickstarter called Equiso Play. This new one definitely has the potential to be a great product from what we’ve seen of it already.
Nvidia Shield’s next OTA update will bring GameStream enhancement, Gamepad Mapper updated and more
Nvidia’s next OTA update for their Nvidia Shield portable gaming system will feature a host of new enhancements and improvements to existing features such as their GameStream technology and the Gamepad Mapper. All of this will be arriving next month for Nvidia Shield owners.
Google has confirmed that they have purchased Green Throttle, a small Bluetooth gaming company that would use their controllers, along with your Android device and their app, and essentially turn your Android device into an Android gaming console. As long as your device was able to use Bluetooth and HID-Controllers, you could use your Android device as a game console.
Ouya partners up with Mad Catz to bring content to the MOJO console. MOJO also gets a price cut.
A few days ago Ouya announced that it would soon be bringing its platform to other hardware and it seems the first company to jump on board is Mad Catz with their Android-powered game console called the MOJO. Now depending on who you are and how you feel about the Ouya platform, this is either really great news or really unfortunate news.
