Treasure Hunter Review: Unearth Great Re-Playability in this Card Drafting Game from Richard Garfield
Richard Garfield’s Treasure Hunter is a drafting card game from Queen Digitals. Having played Magic the Gathering for 15+ years and enjoying drafting games, I ventured into Treasure Hunter with high expectations. Game-play consists of drafting cards for the purpose of winning either the maximum or min treasure for each of the three areas or to attack the goblins at the end of each round. After 5 rounds of play, scores are tallied and the game ends. I had a few problems with game-play.
Echo Studios gives us their newest title, “Hellworm.” Release today on the Play store, it provides a fresh take on an old classic. I won’t be the only cat on the block to draw the comparison between Hellworm and Snake. The parallels are there, but for the most part that’s where the similarities stop.
Capcom has always had a love/hate relationship for mobile games. On one hand, they love releasing mobile games on iOS, but for some reason it seems they hate to do the same for Android. It seems Capcom is finally giving Android a real chance, as the first 6 games from the Blue Bomber’s 8-bit era are coming to Android in January of 2017. This isn’t the first time Megaman has seen a mobile device.
Hyunmin Ryu’s one-man indie development team, R2Road Studio, has brought us a Legend of Zelda styled, action-RPG game called The Fable of Ruby. Peaceful laboratory worker Ruby is beset by calamity on the job in a mysterious tower. In order to overcome this crisis she embarks on an adventure fraught with peril. Ruby must make her way through the tower, defeating monsters, collecting loot, and heroically saving the day.
Since its release Pokemon Go wasn’t just about going out trying to catch all the little creatures of our childhood. It asked us to make, as always, our first important choice: our team! After that the war began, rivalries took over the net, and in the streets with the aim of making all the gyms in our city belonging to our team. However, this has never been an easy task. First of all, because of the great number of players trying to do the same under a different color, but also because the little field of view available in the app didn’t allow us to see much further from our position.
Near the end of November, Dreamotion Inc. soft-launched the stylish arcade shooter Gun Strider, and it has become one of my daily addictions. There is something extremely satisfying watching Ivan, the gun strider, bend, twist, and spin around to shoot enemies in this kill-or-be-killed game.
Released by Vblank Etnertainment Inc, Retro City Rampage DX is a brawler that’s recently been released on to Android. In this game, players will assume the role of a thug who’s looking for work, and referred to as “The Player”. This begins in the city of Theftopolis, back in 1985, with The Player’s first job being a henchman for an organized crime outfit, which lasts until a particular bank robbery goes south.
Developer Esayitch released his throwback platformer this week, “Tower of the Wizard”. It’s an easy-playing homage to the Nintendo Gameboy side-scrollers of the early 90’s. The game is done in an 8-bit style which we’ve all become very accustomed to seeing on the play store lately.
