Well this came out of left field. Rovio just announced another version of Angry Birds which is slated to be released onto all App stores in March. Called Angry Birds Rio, it is a combined product of Rovio and 20th Century Fox working together to bring an Angry Birds game themed around the upcoming movie “Rio”.

It seems Rovio was nice and sneaky with the Seasons release of Angry Birds Seasons for Android and failed to mention it would have Golden Eggs for us… Continue reading

December 11th, 2010 has come and gone. It was the first official worldwide Angry Birds day where Android, iOs, and any other mobile platform with Angry Birds came together to celebrate the game that has cost the world millions in production time at work. While some were fun meet-ups, others were of a more serious nature. Enjoy!
In what was to be a historic event, the Angry Birds and their enemies, the Pigs, sat down on live tv to go through the final day of peace talks. While tension was thick in the air, everything was progressing somewhat nicely until the end when one bird decided to get brave, causing the Pigs to grab the eggs and try to escape. Some eggs did not make it out though.
Just after writing the previous post regarding NOVA 2 game art I happened to spot an interesting tweet that mentioned there would be no Angry Birds 2 by Rovio. While this may be a bit confusing considering what Rovio CEO, Peter Vesterbacka, said at the Virtual Goods Summit the other day, it could mean a couple things.
Angry Birds developer Rovio recently talked at the Virtual Goods Summit in London about future plans with their flagship game and something interesting came to light. While it is no surprise, and heavily reported on, that Angry Birds will be heading to consoles soon as well as a TV show and a movie, mention of a sequel came up.
A few days back we brought to light a game called SheepRun that had some strikingly similar user interface designs to that of Angry Birds by Rovio. Since then we have had many people mention that the level design was almost a complete copy of another Flash game called Home Sheep Home. SheepRun Beta is now not available on the Android Market.
A few days back we posted about a game we found and tried out called SheepRun which seems to be a mix of physics and Lemmings style gameplay. Aside from the fact it was a pretty interested game (still in beta) the main thing that caught our eye was the user interface which looked ridiculously like Angry Birds’ user interface, so we shot off an email to Rovio.
Everyone who has been playing Angry Birds will be pleased with this announcement. Rovio has released the first update for Angry Birds for Android and it is a pretty nice sized update. First, the game now supports QVGA screens so anyone who owns an Android device with a QVGA screen will have proper screen support with the graphics in-game.
