Back in December of last year we talked about the critically-acclaimed shmup Ikaruga and the fact that it had appeared on Google Play albeit for residents of Japan only at the time. Well the popular Xbox Live Arcade shooter is now available for everyone to download, not just residents of Japan.

2012 saw lots of fantastic games arriving on Android, and as such in terms of gaming Android enjoyed a healthy growth. Some of them were original ones, while others were ports from other platforms or classic hits. Anyway, I’ve decided to compile my five most disappointing games that came out in 2012. Just a slight note – disappointing here doesn’t necessarily mean that the game isn’t good, but merely that it turned out to be something lesser than what I expected.

SNK Playmore has put their classic Neo Geo games Metal Slug 3 on sale for a mere $1.99 and Blazing Star on sale for $0.99 which is $5 off of its regular price of $6.99 for Metal Slug 3 and a couple of dollars off Blazing Star‘s regular price. For those of you who used to play these games when you owned a Neo Geo but for some reason haven’t picked either of these up yet, now is a good time to snag a copy of either game.
[Updated] HyperDevBox unleashes their mech shooter sequel called ExZeus 2 for high-end Android devices
One of the first real mech-style arcade shooter games to land on Android was a game called ExZeus from HyperDevBox. This game featured some pretty impressive visuals for the time as well as some pretty hectic and enjoyable gameplay. Not too long ago we found out that a sequel was in the works, appropriately named ExZeus 2. Well that sequel is now available on Google Play and features console quality visuals and even more hectic shooting gameplay.
LEGO Hero Factory Brain Attack was actually supposed to see a release in January next year as a result of a partnership between LEGO and Amuzo Games, but it has made its way a few days early (not that we’d be complaining anyway) onto Google Play for free for everyone to enjoy.
A new retro-style arcade shooter has landed on Google Play called Vritra. Developed by Salvo Inc., this particular arcade shooter is almost a bullet hell type of shooter. We say almost because while there is a lot of bullets to dodge and shoot, there isn’t the amount you would find in a true bullet hell game but there is more than what you find in your average arcade shooter.
Want more deals this holiday season? Well you’re in luck then as DotEmu has put up their three self-published titles on Google Play on sale. This sale starts today, actually right now, and goes on until December 27th, 2012 so you do have about a week to pick up either R-Type, Another World or the Raiden Legacy game pack at a discounted price. Lots of news coming out of Madfinger Games today in regards to two of their games, Shadowgun: Deadzone and Dead Trigger. To start off, we will cover the quick news that Dead Trigger is now available on the Amazon AppStore for Kindle Fire owners to enjoy. If you happen to own a Kindle Fire, you can hope on over to the Amazon AppStore and pick up Dead Trigger for the low cost of free.
A new action shooter as arrived called Sacred Guns by Uglysoft. Aside from the slightly strange company name, Sacred Guns is an over-the-shoulder head-on shooter where you will be blasting onslaught after onslaught of monsters as they try to get passed you and onto Noah’s Ark.
