A new game development studio coming out of London called Super Icon have announced that they will be developing games for the Playstation Mobile platform, along with other mobile platforms such as iOS and Android non-Playstation Certified devices. Super Icon already has two games in the works that look to bring back the memories of the old school gaming days long since passed.

Ikaruga is widely recognized to be one of the best shoot ‘em ups ever, and has garnered high praise from both reviewers and hardcore gamers in the past. It is a challenging and fast-paced game that utilizes the color polarity mechanic – your ship has to be of the same color as the incoming bullets or else you die.
Another space-themed shooter has arrived but instead of being the somewhat open world style of game that Alpha Squadron is, Star Defender 4 is a straight up arcade game similar in style to Galaga but much more challenging. Developed by Awem Studio, Star Defender 4 really doesn’t have a set format of enemies you will be killing like Galaga, instead you’ll have them flying all over the screen all the time.
While we are not 100% sure if this is a revamped version of the classic 1984 Alpha Squadron game or not but Martian Monkey has done an excellent job either way with their release of Alpha Squadron onto Google Play today. This game has you strapping into your own ship and taking part of aerial dogfights out in space.
Raiden is a pretty popular side-scrolling shooter amongst the older gamers, and this franchise has now made its way to Android thanks to DotEmu under the guise of Raiden Legacy. You get four games in one neat little package – the original Raiden, Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2 and Raiden Fighters Jet. The developers claim that the games have not merely been recreated, but instead enhanced with some new features too.
Retrobomb recently released onto Android a re-vamped and re-images version of the classic Dreamcast game called Expendable. While the game is pretty slick as it is, Retrobomb has been working hard on improving it even more and they have done it by adding controller support to Expendable Rearmed.
Quick Hits: Future Shooter Review – A decent arcade shooter that is good for killing a few minutes
Future Shooter is a futuristic 2D side-scrolling Beat-em up from Dancing Cat Development and released for Android in 2012. The game takes place in 2842 and you play the role of main enforcer for your gang. Your gang’s operations are being disrupted by the other gangs, and as main enforcer, you take charge of the situation. Future Shooter is your standard side-scrolling street brawler, but this time it’s set in the future. In the game, you have four classes to choose from: Punk, Ninja, Cyborg, and Soldier – one from each gang. All of these classes look different, but essentially play the same.
The Chicken Invaders series has been around for a long time having been created in 1997 before becoming publicly available in 1999. Since then the series has made its way onto just about every platform and Android is included in that, already having multiple Chicken Invader titles available. Now the evil chickens have gotten into the Christmas spirit in a new Xmas Edition.
Any followers of DroidGamers will be aware of the existence of this PC indie classic that is now available on android. There are plenty of these ‘bullet hell’ shooters available from the market, but has Beat Hazard Ultra got an ace up its sleeve that separates it from them all? Let’s find out shall we?
Online multiplayer shooters on Android are pretty uncommon. I personally liked N.O.V.A. 3, and there was Modern Combat 3 as well. Anyway, Madfinger Games, creators of games such as Shadowgun and Dead Trigger, have entered the mobile multiplayer shooting space as well with Shadowgun: Deadzone. The game is, in short, good – but just how good?
