It’s Friday which means it is time for another round-up of Android games that are currently on sale for this weekend. While half the list may be repeats from last week, the first half happens to be full of some really good games that are discounted for the immediate future.
Released by White Wizard Games, Star Realms is a deck building game that’s on the Android platform. For those unfamiliar with the game, it’s a fairly simple deck builder, where players add cards to their deck as the game goes on, in the hopes of outmaneuvering their opponent with said cards, in the hopes of depleting the opponent’s health.
BEAM – Laser Puzzle Invaders is the debut release from Binary Monks. The game is a fairly straightforward arcade game, where invaders of sorts are marching ever downward from the top of the screen, while the player controls a laser cannon that is fixed at the bottom of the screen, but can move laterally.
Emulators are certainly not new when it comes to the Android platform. There’s pretty much an emulator for everything you could want, whether it is for running console or PC games on your Android device, or the exact opposite, which is running Android games on your PC. There’s a new emulator that has just received its first public release called LeapDroid and it claims to be the fastest Android emulator in the world.
Pokémon GO has been available in the United States for only one day, and already memes are abound about how players will likely be led into unfamiliar urban spaces (read: “ghetto”) in the pursuit of Pokémon and Pokémon gyms.
Good Games and Oxon Game Studio have announced that their real-time strategy science-fiction based game Galaxy Reavers is headed to Android this month. Impressive visuals, a lengthy campaign and tactical-strategy are at the forefront of a game that is a welcome addition to the real-time strategy genre.
Released by Kongregate, a subsidiary of GameStop, Crusaders of the Lost Idols is a new adventure game for Android. In Crusaders, players will be tasked with unlocking crusaders, leveling them up, and guiding them towards victory. Some of the available crusaders include The Bat Billionaire, Emo Werewolf, and Robo Turkey.
Released by Nebra Games, GLITCH is a new dual stick shooter for Android. In this game, players will be assuming the role of a computer virus, which is attempting to penetrate a computer. Bear in mind, this isn’t a hacking game as one might think from the back story.
Herocraft has released a new Puzzle-RPG onto Android called Zombie Town Story. This particular game features Match-3 puzzle mechanics meshed into parts of the combat, with a full adventure style of game also being present. There’s also plenty of RPG mechanics in place such as leveling up characters, upgrading equipment and so on.
2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the venerable Pokémon franchise, and gamers that have been “catching them all” since their childhood have an all new reason to dust off their Pokédex, rejoin the fray, and catalog the (sometimes) cute critters. As of this yesterday morning, Niantic Inc., the developer behind the popular augmented reality game Ingress, has begun launching Pokémon Go to the Google Play Store and iOS App Store by region.
