We haven’t heard a lot from developers JavaGround Inc who developed the cross-platform tactics game Uniwar for Android and the iPhone. Going under the name TBS Games on the Android market, they released a new game not too long ago called Dante: The Inferno which is a top-down Diablo II style game based around getting out of hell and saving souls.
The semi-final round for the first Android Gaming Challenge has just ended and it certainly wasn’t an easy game to play. A special golf course was designed for tournament players in the Mini Golf’oid game and the scores were as impressive as ever. However the ladder is not complete as there will be yet another sudden death tie-breaker between two players.
Almost a week ago reports circulated around starting with Engadget then us and everyone else about a possible phone being developed by Sony Ericsson resembling the PSP GO and supposedly running Android 3.0 upon release. Obviously to everyone who comes here this is like a wet dream to us. More information was needed so the digging started.
Hella Umbrella by Ramblin’ Wreckage Game Trailer
Hella Umbrella, developed by Ramblin’ Wreckage, is a very unique platformer coming soon to the Android market. While admittedly right now the Android market lacks a good selection of platformers with few being good to play, Hella Umbrella is set to change this and features some crazy gameplay elements yet to be seen in an Android platformer game.
Starbase Defense, developed by Sebastian Serafin, is sort of like a tower defense game in that you have to defend your starbase against endless waves of enemies. While you don’t have any towers or things of that nature to help you out you do have upgrades you can purchase after each round. This is a great example of what to play when you want to kill some time.
The first ever Android Gaming Challenge is nearing it’s end. Today marks the beginning of the semi-finals and after that the finals where 1 person will be named Champion. Six players have managed to beat out the original 400+ entries into the tournament playing various games testing different aspects of gaming such as reflexes, endurance and strategy!
As you may or may not have know we needed to have a sudden death round between two players for the last spot in the semi-finals for the Android Gaming Challenge. It was a very close battle with neither player giving up at any point. In fact it was so close that the only difference in points is just under 700 and it was like that the entire round.
While id Software may not have made many friends last year when they had all the Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein ports yanked off the Android market through a DMCA notice to Google, they do have the possibility now of making it up to the Android community whether that is their motive or not. Word has it that they are considering releasing their newest game, Rage, onto the Android platform.
It really was only a matter of time, especially after the news of Google investing in Zynga, the makers of Farmville who are expected to be releasing it for Android at some point in the near future, that another Facebook game company would release their title onto the Android market.
