Fans of side-scrolling retro action arcade games have a new one to try out today called Kung Fu FIGHT!. Brought to you by Nostatic Software, the fine folks who brought us their hit Xbox Live game called Quite, Please!, Kung Fu Fight! is all about fighting the bad guys, saving the girl and being a hero with your Kung Fu style, all wrapped up in some retro style visuals.
You have to love rumors or vague statements which could or could not be true. Usually in the mobile world, this involve photos by Mr. Blurrycam half the time, half of which are usually faked anyways. In the gaming world, this usually involve reading between the lines of what some people say, doing some hunting of your own, and trying to piece together what is truth and what is not. Sometimes it ends up being wrong but the majority of the time, the truth is usually found out.
We’ve talked about this ‘game’ a few times in the past which was originally called Curiosity until NASA made Peter Molyneux change the name to Curiosity: What’s Inside The Box. For those who have missed our previous coverage of this game, basically everyone, regardless of what platform they are playing it on, are whacking away at a giant cube, trying to be the one to strike the final blow and learn what is inside the cube.
A rather cool, and large, retro style RPG has arrived on Google Play called 9th Dawn. Developed by Valorware, who originally held a Kickstarter project to help with getting this game completed but ended up having their Kickstarter be unsuccessful, have gone ahead and kept on working on getting this game out onto Android finally. It took a bit longer but it has arrived and it was worth the wait.
About two weeks ago we talked about a rather popular Dreamcast game Expendable that is getting revamped and re-imaged before getting released onto Android under the name called Expendable Rearmed. This is being done by the fine folks at Retrobomb and when we originally posted about the game coming to Android, we only had a general ‘coming soon’ release time for it. Well now we have an official release date.
The next version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition is heading our way and amazingly enough it seems as though this update came a lot faster than the other ones did. This is probably due to the fact that a lot of features are now in place so the devs working on Minecraft: Pocket Edition don’t have to worry about them and can concentrate on more content. So what is coming in the 0.5.0 update? The Nether Reactor.
The Wikipad Android gaming tablet that was supposed to be released this week has been delayed until further notice. For those of you who had been planning to go to your local GameStop and pick one of them up, you are going to have to wait a bit longer. The new came through a press release which details why the delay is happening.
On Halloween we started up a nice little giveaway where two people would win one of the two Nexus 7 16GB Tegra 3 Android tablets we were giving away. The two tablets, which were donated by nVidia (say thanks!), have had no owners and are all alone over at the nVidia offices. Zombie games of all shapes and sizes are a dime a dozen these days on the mobile gaming scene. One such new game vying for attention is Zombie Driver THD, which is actually a full-on console and PC port in terms of content. It is one thing to boast console quality content, and another to see if all this is wrapped in a mobile-friendly package. Does Zombie Driver THD make the cut in that respect?
The remake of the classic RPG Baldur’s Gate, which we’ve reported on since it hit up Kickstarter for funding, will be arriving a little sooner than expected, although it is still arriving later than the initial release date. Originally slated for a September 18th, 2012 release date, the developers eventually had to delay the game’s launch until November 30th, 2012. Now, Beamdog’s head man Trent Oster has confirmed that the game will actually be arriving on November 28th, 2012, two days early.
