We already have the Xbox One SmartGlass application which allows people to access their Xbox Live account and do a few things like tweak your avatar or experience second-screen gaming on select Xbox One titles. We knew it wouldn’t be long before this was expended and more of Xbox Live would become more available through your Android device. This is exactly what Microsoft has announced today.

Google has always allowed apps and games to be installed outside of Google Play, it is one of the perks of being an Android user. However security for this sort of feature has always been more based around user awareness rather than software-based security. There is the one-time verifying of installing an app or game outside of Google Play but it doesn’t go much further than that.

Square Enix to launch a new companion app for Thief, hitting Android on February 25th. Free version available now.
Square Enix has already made a pretty big announcement today with regards to the release of Hitman GO for Android which will be heading our way soon. The company has also announced that it will be launching a new paid version of their Thief companion app for Android users later this month.
For all you developers out there who want to make apps and games from Google’s Chromecast, the SDK now has support for Google Play Services. Along with this new support, a new version of Google Play Services has begun to roll out to all Android devices in general.

Nintendo, a very confused looking company, confirms now it will make Apps and maybe games for mobile
Nintendo is looking mighty confused these past few days it seems with regards to what it wants to do with mobile devices. First, awhile ago, Nintendo adamantly stated that it wouldn’t be bringing games to mobile platforms. The a rumor popped up that it would be making mini-games for mobile but that was squashed almost immediately by Nintendo in a statement. Now it is confirmed that there is a plan for mobile devices with the company after all.
There is a very interesting application heading to Android in the early part of 2014 called Createrria. Developed by Incuvo, this application will allow those of you who are creative or want to try your hand at creating games for Android to do just that, create and share games for Android. The really interesting part about this is that you’ll be doing this on your Android device.
While Microsoft’s next-gen console is gearing up for release here in the US in roughly 12 hours, Microsoft has already released their companion application for the Xbox One onto Google Play for free. Once you download the app, and actually get your hands on your new Xbox One, you’ll be able to connect to it and do a fair amount of stuff with your Android device and your console.
Since we are having a rather decent amount of companion applications launching as of late, why not report on one more that has hit Google Play? 2K Games has launched their new companion application for their new NBA2K14 game which is appropriately called MyNBA2K14. If you used their previous companion app for NBA2K13 then you’ll already know what to expect with this one. You may also notice that it doesn’t exist anymore either.
