Perhaps this little bit of info may take some of the steam out of GeoHot being so eager to jailbreak the Xperia Play. Sony Ericsson has announced that all new Xperia phones will be able to have their bootloaders unlocked in a secure and legal way to allow advanced developers access to all the good stuff inside.

If you follow gaming new at all, and by at all we mean even glancing at a gaming news website by accident, then you already know who GeoHot is and that Sony is suing him for hacking the PS3. Well he left to go vacation in South America and Sony has accused him of fleeing to South America instead to ditch the case or something to that effect.

Alright well maybe it isn’t a ‘satanic’ message when one of the videos is played backwards but it is pretty freaky nonetheless. Sony Ericsson, however, is continuing with the tradition they have created with releasing more slightly disturbing promo videos for the Xperia Play. Of course this makes us happy and we hope they see TV time.
Well CTIA has started today and one bit of news coming out already regarding the Xperia Play is that at least one North American model of the phone will be heading for Verizon. While we say one model, that is because there are rumors it will eventually land on all carriers in the USA. However, the Verizon one is the first one spied with actual branding.
GDC 2011 is only a few days away and as it gets closer, the rumors are starting to fly. One such rumor is that iOS developer Firemint is planning to unveil their Real Racing 2 game ported over to Android. Real Racing 2 has won multiple awards since its release onto the App Store and Firemint is now looking to unleash it onto Android as well.

According to numerous sites both in the media and ones that sell mobile devices, the apparent launch date for public sale for the Xperia Play will be March 28, 2011. While this is a little over a month away still, some sites already have the unlocked edition of the Xperia Play up for pre-order but the prices are all over the place.

Awhile ago we reported on the rumor that games for the Xperia Play would be priced at the $10 or lower mark and recent news seems to be supporting this fact. Galaxy of Fire 2 is slated for release on the Xperia Play at launch and will be priced at $9.99. Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave will also be ‘under $10’.
