If you haven’t heard about Lodsys LLC by now then you are about to get familiar with them pretty quickly. Generally, known as a patent troll, Lodsys LLC has recently been trying to sue just about everyone under the sun it seems. Since it wasn’t working to well against major corporations, the company is hitting the little guys.

Once in awhile one or more of the big companies in gaming have to voice their opinions on mobile gaming. Is it because it is a threat and they just don’t want to come off worried or perhaps it is just the fact that they look down on the little guys sometimes. Sony’s boss, Jack Tretton, brings us a little gem of wisdom today about mobile games.
After getting squeezed out of the iOS platform by Apple after they changed their rules and regulations over promotions of games and apps, Tapjoy has turned it’s focus solely on Android now. However, in a move that basically give Apple the finger, they have opened up the Tapjoy Android fund.
Sony Ericsson has opened up a new feature on their site for showcasing games for the Xperia Play. Essentially a game developers showcase, if you make a game that is Xperia Play optimized (doesn’t have to be exclusive to the Xperia Play though) and tell them about it, they will showcase your game.
Sometime we witness growth so great that we end up going “WTF” when reading the news. Well this is one of those cases where the numbers are just so massive that believing it at first can be difficult. Today, OpenFeint is reporting such a scenario with their member growth.
PapayaMobile ditches developing games to focus on giving developers more tools and open source code on Android.
PapayaMobile has decided that they will not be making any more game themselves anymore. Instead, they have announced today that they will cease game development and their latest in-house developed game, Pet Paradise, will be their last. No they aren’t closing their doors, they are just solely focusing on helping developers instead.
OpenFeint has been busy it seems with providing developers more ways to be successful on the Android platform. Today they are launching an expansion to their OFX platform and offering up a new set of tools for developers to use to create free-to-play games for Android. Maybe you’ll make the next smash hit Freemium game?
IGDA to Amazon: Thanks for trying but your claification doesn’t help anything for game developers.
It is time for Round 3 of the battle over Amazon’s App Store for Android and the Developer Agreement that everyone signs when registering to submit games (or apps) onto the App Store. In response to Amazon’s clarification regarding the Developer Agreement last week, the IGDA has pointed out that there is still a glaring issue at hand.
nVidia hosting Development Webinars for Tegra Android Development. Just in case you were wanting to learn more.
nVidia has just announced that they will be hosting three webinars for people interested in learning more about developing for Tegra Android devices. Naturally the basic theme around the webinars is in regards to creating high-performance graphics for use on the Tegra chipset but these webinars will be presented by other developers as well.
Yesterday the IGDA (International Game Developers Association) published an open letter on their blog to Amazon’s App Store and warning developers about Amazon’s Developer Agreements terms and what you are actually agreeing to when you sign it. Today Amazon has published a response to the letter.
