If 2016 has taught us anything its that its good to be the bad guy. I was able to spend a couple of hours playing the newest Free to Play Strategy RPG, Super Villains War: Lost Heroes, and I walked away thinking that after more time with the game, developer CJKE could have a hit on their hands. Unfortunately, any good experience I could have possibly had, was marred by an long, drawn out, tutorial which is un-skippable.
Qurius is an interesting title. While still in beta, it offers a new take on the god-like creation games out there. Qurius actually uses your location and GPS systems to translate your actual weather to in game actions. In Qurius, you are tasked with saving a mysterious world from its imminent destruction.
Noodlecake is synonymous with great mobile games, and they’ve proven it yet again with developer Mantisbite’s gorgeous new retro-futuristic sci fi game Island Delta. Island Delta is an isometric action-adventure puzzle-solving game in which the two heroes, demolitions expert Baxter and tech specialist Zoe, must make their way through their nemesis, Dr. Gunderson’s, dangerous island on a rescue mission.
With the immense popularity of HBO’s Westworld, along with Red Dead Redemption (and its sequel’s announcement), it has been a wonder why there aren’t any open world westerns for mobile. Well, Greek indie developer Sakis 25 has a solution. It’s called Guns and Spurs.
First-person dungeon crawlers are experiencing a revival of sorts lately. The role-playing game sub-genre, whose heyday occurred during the early years of computer gaming, has remained relatively dormant since the late 90’s. These past few years, however, a handful of dedicated developers have begun releasing well-received titles that have given life to the once near-dead genre, the most notable example being The Legend of Grimrock series. These titles are, for the most part, available only on PC, but little by little mobile is starting to see its share of the action through ports and even some original titles.
DH games have finally bought their long awaited game Dungeon Rusher out of closed beta and it’s now available to download on Google Play in an open beta. The game plays as a TCG with RPG/dungeon crawler and MMO elements. There are 3 classes to choose from, basic, heroic and champion.

Studios have opened their mobile sandbox survival MMORPG game Durango up for worldwide limited beta testing today, and will continue through January 4th, 2017.Durango is a revolutionary mobile MMORPG game that puts players into a massive dinosaur-filled sandbox world. Players participating in the beta will be placed into a beautiful and dangerous world overrun by dinosaurs, and the only goal is survival in a hostile environment.
Noodlecake Games just surprised iOS gamers with a new action-puzzler called Island Delta, but thankfully they didn’t forget about us Android gamers. They’ve just tweeted a December 22nd, 2016 Android release date for Snowball!, their upcoming pinball game for mobile and PC.
Dead Island has been through some turbulent waters in the last couple years. Escape Dead Island was a cel-shaded disaster, the amazing MOBA Dead Island: Epidemic was shut down even before leaving Open Beta, Dead Island: Retro Revenge wasn’t the traditional beat ’em up we were led to believe it would be, and Dead Island 2 is still lost somewhere in an undead production purgatory.
Preston, England-based studio, Soccer Manager Ltd., has begun open beta testing for their latest game; Soccer Manager Arena. SMA is an easy to pick up, hard to put down arena-style soccer game featuring intuitive controls and fast-paced gameplay. When first launching the game, players will receive an initial pack of cards and be sent into a tutorial to learn basic controls. The tutorial is quite short and does a decent job of getting the player up to speed and ready to participate in multiplayer matches. SMA is heavily focused on multiplayer gaming, each arena after the training arena will be player versus player.
