Want to play a racing game on your Android phone but feel like getting back to your old school arcade roots? I’m not talking about some black and weird off-white color hand held system but the arcade units you used to sit down in with a steering wheel that usually didn’t fully work and a shifting knob that just flopped around half the time.

We reported yesterday that GT Motor Racing Academy was starting to show up on the mobile version of Gameloft’s web-based store. Today we now have a semi-live page on the actual desktop web-based store. Some of it isn’t loading but if you click the Buy Now link, it does go to payment processing so you should be able to buy it, if not soon.
Gameloft has certainly been keeping themselves in the spotlight lately with all the new games being released for Android, others leaked out as coming soon titles, billing issues and now their games being on GetJar. Well we have news about another game coming to Android as well as an update regarding GetJar.
Well great news for everyone who has wanted Need for Speed: Shift by EA Mobile but has not had it available to them. You can now go to the Android Market and buy the game! After a very long time, at least it seems that way, of being exclusive only to certain phones such as the Droid 2, EA Mobile has finally put NFS: Shift onto the market.
Based out of Canada, Ratrod Studios Inc has released their popular 3D drift racing game, Drift Mania Championship, onto the Android Market. In the fashion of Gran Turismo style of racing, you’ll have some sweet looking cars to whip around tracks, drifting all over the place and trying to get the fastest time possible for each track.
Seems in our last article it should have been titles “Triple header” instead of double header thanks again to our resident tipster, Mariano Zorrilla! After a bit of digging, Mariano came up with a new game slated for release on the Android platform by Gameloft, Shrek Kart HD. As you may have guessed, this is similar to Mario Kart but with Shrek Characters.
Hold on to your seats, its gonna be a bumpy ride. reckless racing does exactly what it says in the title, and makes the ILG micro machines games look like child’s play. Reckless Racing is Polarbit’s newest 3D game, with partner Pixelbite, and takes the racing game genre and pumps it full of Hillbilly racing goodness with great graphics.
Here is a little update regarding the pirating issue with recently released Reckless Racing (say that 10 times as fast as possible). According to a post on Polarbit’s website, the server update was completed and seems to have worked regarding pirated copies of Reckless Racing causing server problems with getting data from the servers to the game.
Wavecade has developed some really original games for the Android platform such as Pokanoid, Frogly and My Paper Airplane. If you enjoyed the first My Paper Airplane then you will really like My Paper Airplane 2. More based around a track with obstacles, the second addition to this title seems to be much improved upon over the first installment.
Critical Altitude 3D, developed by Burning Bear Development, is a 3D aerial racing game that features OpenGL ES graphics and Accelerometer controls. We are seeing more and more aerial 3D games landing on the Android market and Critical Altitude 3D offers up a lot of features including endless levels to race on as you try to get the highest score possible without crashing!
