Gameloft is optimizing nine of their games for Android TV. This should come as no surprise really as Gameloft tries to usually be one of the first game development companies to announce support for new Android platforms, regardless of what those platforms actually are.
EA and PopCap have been busy lately working on an upcoming expansion for their Plants vs Zombies 2 game which will be called Dark Ages. The revealing of this new expansion happened yesterday with both companies coming together to make the announcement official. A trailer for the Dark Ages expansion was also released.
In what seems to be a steady stream of quiet releases, Ludia Inc’s Dragons: Rise of Berk joins the ranks of other former iOS exclusives that are now appearing on Android. Rise of Berk launched on May 22nd as an iOS exclusive but as of today is available for Android.
Back in 2012, Stone Blade Entertainment led a rather successful crowdfunding effort to produce an all new cross-platform card game titled SolForge. Development of the title is headed by Richard Garfield creator and designer of the venerable TCG, Magic the Gathering. Given the pedigree of the talent behind the game, SolForge generated an appropriate level of gamer interest, culminating in $429,000 raised out of a requested $250,000. Following the consumer response, an open beta was released for iOS and Steam. Now, with the groundwork properly laid, Stone Blade has announced the launch of the Sol Forge open beta for Android.
I mash my thumb into my phone’s screen for the umpteenth time, watching as the numbers next to my sword climb ever higher. I switch to my next hero, mashing my thumb once again into the glass, as the numbers next to my sorcerer’s boots jump up another 200. I jab my battle-worn thumb into the screen a few more times and find myself at the airship screen. My eyes glaze over with sheer joy as I watch the numbers next to my airship climb higher thanks to some hard earned upgrade components. Those too required many presses of my thumb. Small World 2 from developer Days of Wonder has received a substantial update that adds in many new features to the game. For those not in the Small World loop, Small World 2 is the sequel to Small World, which is a tablet version of the popular tabletop game of the same name. Players must conquer areas of the board by using their fantasy race and the power combos that come with it.
HalfBrick has decided to break into the world of sim games with the release of a new title called Band Stars onto Android finally. This particular game puts players in control of starting a band and working your way from a little garage band to superstars in the music industry. At least that is what the goal is. Whether you make it there or not is up to how good you are.
Square Enix announced last week the sequel to their recently released Hitman: GO game called Hitman: Sniper. This new game is very different from the first installment into this mobile series of games based off of the Hitman franchise. While Hitman: GO is about sneaking around, taking out target and completing other objective, Hitman: Sniper is all about sniping out targets effectively.
The PC game Conquest of Elysium 3, is now available for Android tablets. Described on its official site as a “strategy rougelike” Conquest of Elysium 3, developed by Illwinter Game Design, features rudimentary graphics but deep turn-based gameplay.
Rubicon Development’s Great Little War Game 2 is now available on the Google Play Store for $2.99. The sequel to the popular title Great Little War Game, this turn-based strategy game features 60 missions in its campaign and plays in portrait mode, for easier use on the go.
