GREE releases a new TCG called Magnus Ignis, where dreams and nightmares come true

After the news of OpenFeint being shut down soon from yesterday, GREE has followed it up with a new game release called Magnus Ignis. GREE has also done what a few other developers have decided to do in the past and start a new developer account on Google Play with a slight variation of their name. Square Enix did it, EA has done it, and now GREE has done it as well. So even though this game shows up as the only game GREE has released onto Android, that is not true. It is just the first game under that account.

Global Outbreak Review: Zombies, guns and worldwide destruction

I started off by playing Global Outbreak as I do with any other title I review. I download, start following the on-screen prompts and hope that the game doesn’t suck. I’ve got about a 50/50 chance that the game will be pretty good, and a very tiny chance of the game being magnificent. The problems with unoriginality and repeated design that have plagued MMORPGs and social games have infected mobile gaming as well. The simple truth is that most designers know more about coding than they do about making an original product that is also fun.

Keeping it Casual #2: The Top 3 Miniclip Games

Miniclip has been doing casual games on the PC for a few years now, and it seems they are starting to spread on to the Android Play store. These games are strictly casual affairs, with simple, bright graphics, polished gameplay and best of all almost all of them are free to download. I have been through all their games and have put together my top 3 in no particular order from Miniclip giving each one a quick review.

Robotic Planet Review: The Hidden Gem of Real-Time Strategy

The ‘Real-Time Strategy’ genre has never really flourished on Android with only a few titles of real note (Z Origins and Total War Battles to name a couple). I guess it makes sense with the fact that the most popular RTS games on the PC are mouse and keyboard driven. But with a mouse connected to my Nexus 7, I explored the Play store seeking an RTS game that could prove that this genre can be done right on an Android device. Robotic Planet RTS hit the mark perfectly.

Melesta Games to bring Toy Defense to the shores of Android this month

A new tower defense game is heading our way called Toy Defense by Melesta Games later this month. Originally released onto iOS, Melesta Games has decided to bring their game over to Google Play so you can dive into the world of toys and defense gaming. While the visuals are not eye candy like other games in this genre such as Sentinel 3, they are quite solid looking and fit right with the theme of the game.

Origin8 currently developing Sentinel 4: Dark Star, due out in 2013

The rather epic tower defense game Sentinel 3: Homeworld will be getting a new brother soon from its developers Origin8 as development is underway for a new addition to the series called Sentinel 4: Dark Star. While Android missed out on the first two games in the series, we managed to get the third one which featured a health dose of eye candy with some pretty great gameplay to be had.
