Well today was supposed to be the large media event Google was going to hold but it unfortunately got canceled due to the bad weather going on over on the East coast, which we hope all of our readers over there are taking measures to stay safe. Google, instead of rescheduling the event to announce the new Nexus devices, has gone ahead and made everything official today anyways through an online announcement instead. So what is official? The LG Nexus 4, the Nexus 10 tablet and the Nexus 7 32GB version tablet.
Rovio gave warning a couple of hours ago on Twitter that they would be showing off the first in-game footage for their upcoming Star Wars / Angry Birds crossover game, appropriately named Angry Birds Star Wars. While Rovio has pumped out a video or two a week for the past few weeks since they announced the game, none of them have actually shown anything about the game. Now we get to see actual gameplay footage.
Square Enix has released another game onto the Google Play store today which should make old school RPG fans rather happy. Today we see that Chrono Trigger has finally made it to Android and on top of that, it looks like Square Enix may be testing out a slightly lower price tag for their premium games as well with this new release.
Back in 1999, Rage Software released a game onto the Dreamcast called Expendable which eventually made its way onto the original Playstation as well as the PC. Back then it had some cutting edge graphics and used some of the best technology at the time to make a pretty impressive action game. Well now that game is getting remastered and will be heading to Android real soon, complete with a new name called Expendable Rearmed.
Want more Halloween content in your Android games? Well Glu Mobile has updated a number of their games with new Halloween themed content. Everything from zombie deer in Deer Hunter to your character having a pumpkin head and a bad ass broom in Eternity Warrior 2. Each game that has gotten updated has been treated to Halloween themed content unique to that specific game.
It seems like there is a lot more going on this year in regards to Halloween than last year and so we have even more news to share. This time it is coming from the fine folks at Sega who have put up a couple of titles on sale to celebrate Halloween. While iOS users get the better end of the stick with this sale, we do get Sonic CD and Football Manager Handheld 2012 on sale for a limited time.
A few days ago we reported on Microsoft and their plans to bring their Xbox Smartglass application to Android soon. Well soon turned out to be a lot sooner than we had thought as the application is now available on Google Play. Essentially what this app does is connect to your Xbox 360 allowing you to interact with it using your Android phone.
OrangePixel are a mainstay on Android when it comes to retro-style games and one of their previous titles, called Meganoid, was a rather challenging platformer. Well luckily for us all who had plenty of fun, and plenty of frustration, playing Meganoid, OrangePixel has released a sequel to it called Meganoid 2. Like any good sequel, Meganoid 2 is harder than the original game.
Earlier this month we talked about Gameloft’s upcoming dual-stick shooter called Zombiewood and that it would be coming to Android around Halloween. Well for those of you who enjoy dual-joystick action games, Zombiewood has arrived onto the Google Play store and will feed you hordes of zombies to mow down. There actually happens to be a decent amount of content in Zombiewood, aside from a ridiculous amount of zombies to kill.
Square Enix has been doing a decent job with bringing games to Android and even though iOS has more titles from the company, Android is slowly catching up. However, it is no secret that the prices Square Enix happens to be charging for their titles are more on the higher end of the scale. For instance, Chaos Rings rolls in at $12.99 while Final Fantasy III is sitting at $15.99. Recently Square Enix talked about their pricing and defending the price tags that come with some of their games. However, that may be heading for a change soon.
