Last week we reported on a new version update that would be arriving for Minecraft: Pocket Edition in the near future. Well that future has become the present as Mojang has pushed out the version 0.10.0 update onto Android this morning. In a nutshell this update improves the graphics, increases the game’s performance, and killed off a whole lot of bugs which makes for a much more polished and enjoyable experience when playing.

In an ongoing trend for big Ubisoft releases, Far Cry 4 now has an app to go along with it, except it is a bit different than past companion apps.
The first thought I had when I looked at the screenshots of Planet NamNam from the Game Cooks was, “This looks like it will be a lot of fun!” The art work is supremely original, the story line is funny, if not humorously creative, and the genre, arcade first person shooter, is one that could use a breath of fresh air. Did the Game Cooks put the right amount of that special sauce into their game?
One Man Left Studios is comprised of two old friends that went to elementary school together. Alex Okafor is the developer, and Adam Stewart, provides the artwork and animation. They work remotely from Georgia and Alabama. That setup is quite interesting, but it works, because One Man Left has created some fantastic and fun games that require good gaming skills. Their latest entry, Tilt to Live: Gauntlet’s Revenge, will be making its way to the Play Store soon.
Just a few months ago, Goon Studios, a game developer based in Pasadena, California, released the artistically adorable and enjoyable platformer/runner, Boogey Boy. If you haven’t played it yet, you should. It is fun, unique and definitely worth your time. We’ve been in touch with the Goons, since they released Boogey Boy. Recently, they were kind enough, to share an exclusive piece of art for their next project, Monster vs. Sheep with, Droid Gamers.
[UPDATED] An Interview with Independent Game Designer Semir Saleh – Creator of Dodo Master, An Excellent Platforming Game Coming to Android
“Alone in a dungeon sat a Dodo in a cage. She was overwhelmed by sadness, her eggs had been taken away.” So begins your journey with a brilliantly conceived, and challenging platforming game, called Dodo Master. The game was released earlier this year on iOS, with a preponderance of high praise. Android gamers will have the opportunity very shortly, to experience what many iOS users have enjoyed. It is an old school platformer that rewards you for your skills, and punishes you for the lack thereof. Semir Saleh, the independent game designer of Dodo Master, was kind enough to speak with me, to talk about his game, his origins and why he is willing to do it all over again. I introduce to you, the Dodo Master himself, Semir Saleh.
Ketchapp seems to be delivering simple and fun games, one right after the other. In the past month or so, they have pushed The Tower, Amazing Thief and Make Them Fight into the Play Store. Thus far, all of the games have a few things in common. They have clean and simple graphics, they are easy to pick up and put down for quick game play, and each one is entertaining in its own right. Most recently, Ketchapp, in collaboration with WF Games, brought Stick Hero to the Play Store. Anybody in your family can pick up and play this game easily. All it requires is a good judge of distance.
Nitrome has made a follow-up to their popular title 8-Bit Doves. In the same glorious, and almost monochromatic fashion, they have released Endless Doves into the Play Store. Yes, let all the Flappy Bird comparisons begin. In this case, I don’t think they are really warranted. The quality of this extraordinarily difficult game is unmatched in its control, atmosphere and personality. It is a straightforward game, that is as challenging as Wave, Wave to play, by Noodlecake Games. However, accepting failure with this title, is much easier, because of the delightful touches the designers have placed in the game. Endless Doves should be downloaded for the attention to detail alone. The graphics are a throwback to the early days of Nintendo Gameboys.
True Axis, game creator of the excellent titles, True Skate, Space Tripper and Jet Car Stunts, has finally released the sequel to their award winning game, Jet Car Stunts for Android. Jet Car Stunts 2 is now available in the Play Store, and we couldn’t be more excited to try it out. True Axis is known to take their time, to make sure that their games are well-polished, before they are released. If you like driving a vehicle at insane speeds through a maze of tracks floating in mid-air, Jet Car Stunts 2 is the game for you. Are you ready to take flight?
A rather enjoyable looking game is heading to the Ouya console this month called MouseCraft. The best way to describe this game is that it resembles the older classic game Lemmings in terms of the mechanics that you will be dealing with. The goal is to get the mice to the cheese in each level.
