During PlayJam’s press conference yesterday at GDC 2013 the company announced that it would be shipping out units with a couple of pre-installed games. These games turned out to be Madfinger’s Shadowgun and Hutch’s Smash Cops. Both games will be available for those of you who backed the GameStick Kickstarter campaign in order to pre-order a unit.

The UK retailer GAME has the Android-powered console available for pre-orders through the company’s website as of this morning. The pre-orders, which currently have no shipping date attached to it, are available for £99 for those of you who want to pre-order one for the first line of shipping for people who didn’t back the console’s Kickstarter campaign.
PlayJam’s GameStick has a little more news today and it is in regards to XBMC support which this portable Android-powered gaming console will come with when it launches. XBMC was originally created for the Xbox as a media hub but instead it wound up getting released as open source software media player people can use on their PCs or Macs.
One of the two gaming centric Android tablets has officially gone on sale now for $179. The Archos Gamepad is an Android tablet with a focus on gaming with physical gaming controls available on either side of the 7″ tablet which runs Android 4.1, otherwise known as Jelly Bean.
For those of you who are more about having a compact, more portable, Android console instead of OUYA are probably more interested in PlayJam’s GameStick which did pretty damn good on Kickstarter and has since progressed nicely including a new design for their controller. We’ve seen plenty of pictures and video of GameStick and now anyone attending GDC 2013 next week will be able to check GameStick out in person as well.
Today Nvidia held their press event at GTC 2013 and the company talked about all kinds of good stuff ranging from information about Nvidia’s GRID cloud gaming system and, of course, mobile chipset goodness was brought up. Nvidia’s CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang,who is always fairly entertaining to watch during Nvidia events, was on stage once again and along with him came a new roadmap for their mobile chipsets.
For those of you who backed the Kickstarter campaign for the upcoming Android-powered gaming console OUYA, the company is planning to host a party in San Francisco this upcoming March 28th, 2013 in order to say thank you as well as to celebrate the launch of the units for those of you who backed their Kickstarter.
In the world on upcoming Android gaming controllers and consoles there is plenty of options to choose from when you’re considering buying into one. We have OUYA, GameStick, MOGA, SteelSeries and more when it comes to controllers and consoles. One company we’ve talked about in the past, called Green Throttle, is officially launching their product today which basically turns your Android tablet into a console.
For those of you who backed the OUYA Android powered game console’s Kickstarter campaign and purchased a unit through Kickstarter, your units are going to be landing on your door step soon as units are slated to begin shipping on March 28th, 2013.
