Interview with Richard “TerminX” Gobeille from Voidpoint about the upcoming Duke Nukem 3D: Hail to the King collection
At the end of January 2015 fans of the Duke Nukem franchise got a surprise announcement. That announcement was a massive collection of Duke Nukem games that are coming to Android in what is called the Duke Nukem 3D: Hail to the King Collection. We got a chance to talk with Richard “TerminX” Gobeille of Voidpoint, the company behind the collection, about the upcoming release and all things Duke Nukem.
We have dug up some additional details regarding the upcoming Duke Nukem 3D: Hail to the King Collection from Voidpoint that will be landing onto Google Play sometime in Q1 2015. As we mentioned in our original article, Voidpoint hasn’t come up with a specific price point yet for the collection but we do now have confirmation that there will not, at all, be any IAPs. We did mention that the entire collection would be included in the launch but considering the amount of games in it, we wanted to make sure it would be available for one price.
Yesterday was the day that Duke Nukem 3D was released onto PC back in 1996. That was 19 years ago and to celebrate this anniversary, Voidpoint will be bringing Duke Nukem 3D: Hail to the King Collection to Android this Spring. This is largely thanks to the fact that Voidpoint has acquired commercial rights to the original 1996 PC game Duke Nukem 3D, the expansions ‘Duke It Out in D.C,’ Duke Caribbean: Life’s a Beach,’ ‘Duke: Nuclear Winter’ as well as the N64’s original Duke Nukem 64 and PlayStation’s original Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown from 1997.
As promised we’ve returned with another list from the shamelessly tacky to the tackily shameless. This is the second collection of all the console imitators available for the Android. While some are amazing stand out games on their own, it’s impossible to ignore their source material.
One thing CES is usually good for is getting a sneak peek or two and unreleased games that will soon be coming to Android. At Qualcomm’s booth they had plenty of games being shown on their development tablets to showcase their new Snapdragon 810 and Adreno 430 chipset team. However all of them were games already released except for one that happened to show its demo reel right before we left. The game we are talking about is Gates of Osiris by Fenix Fire.
If there is one thing you can count on for with Gameloft, it is the fact that they will always be one of the first developers to optimize their games for any new upcoming gaming hardware or platforms based off of Android that look promising. Whether it was the Ouya console or the GameStick, they usually have a few games announced as ready to go for that particular platform’s release.
Madfigner Games has released a Christmas update for Dead Trigger 2 and this update brings a lot more to the game than just holiday festivities. If fact aside from the update being released near Christmas, if it was released at this time then it would be considered a full content update instead.
Gameloft’s Modern Combat 5: Blackout will be getting its first content update at some point today. One of the bigger additions to this game is the inclusion of two popular maps from two of the previous Modern Combat games as well as a new voting system for multiplayer when maps are switching between games.
