There is a virtual reality game that will be showcased at the Anime Expo 2016 next week which is called Nagomi’s Earcleaning VR. This game is an ear cleaning simulation game featuring an anime female who, after a long day at work, offers you the ability to enjoy a virtual ear cleaning which will apparently relax you.
Released by Astrologic Media, Missile Attack VR is a new take on the classic game Missile Command. In this game, players are tasked with firing their laser cannon to take down incoming missiles, and see how long they can keep the missiles at bay. What’s nice about this game though, is that it will work with VR headsets such as Google Cardboard, but will also work without one, simply viewing through the screen of the phone as one would with any other type of game.
The rather humorous game Please, Don’t Touch Anything will be getting a Virtual Reality version released later this month for the Oculus Rift and the Gear VR headsets. Erik Finman is the person behind a new VR headset that has just launched onto IndieGoGo for additional funding in order to get it manufactured and eventually shipped out to people interested in it. Outside of the Big 3 VR headsets, those being the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and the Samsung Gear VR, there are plenty of other headsets available for folks to try out. However, The Marvel, as this headset is called, actually has a few features that set it apart from the plethora of other headsets out there.
RiftCat has an application called VRidge for Android which allows users of Android-based VR headsets, such as Google Cardboard, to play PC Virtual Reality games on those non-PC VR headsets. Today’s announcement is a big one, which is an update to VRidge that adds SteamVR and OpenVR support. This essentially means that if you own a Google Cardboard VR headset you can play most, if not all, SteamVR games without needing to pay $799 to own an HTC Vive.
While at GDC, there was plenty of mobile game related goodies as well as Virtual Reality items to check out. One product we sat down with is called MyDream Swift which, in a general sense, is a lightweight program that essentially turns your PC games into Virtual Reality games.
Released by Evangelos Karamolegkos, Galaxy Invaders 3D is, as one would reasonably expect from the game’s name, an arcade shooter that’s played in 3D. The game has no real story to speak of, and mostly focuses the action. Players will control a star fighter, located at the bottom of the screen in the standard arcade shooter format.
As we reported last week, the HTC Vive Consumer Edition VR headset bundle went live with pre-orders on February 29th, 2016. One concern that some people has with the possible success of this headset was the pricing, with the pre-order package coming in at $799, which is $200 more than the Oculus Rift.
The Oculus Rift will be the first Virtual Reality headset to get the first CCG (Collectible Card Game) title in the near future. The game is called Dragon Front and is being developed by High Voltage and produced by Oculus Studios. Overall, Dragon Front meshes a fantasy theme with a more modern theme regarding the technology in it, for a more advanced Steampunk/Dieselpunk look to it.
