While we haven’t done our Hidden Gem series in a bit, it doesn’t mean we don’t find any more hidden gems on Google Play. Quite the opposite actually and this is one of those games that could easily qualify as a hidden gem, even with how new it is. Meet Ignatius, a new puzzle platformer with a pretty interesting visual style and a storyline to match it.

Welcome to the DroidGamers Indie Spotlight. As the amount of games being released in the Play Store increase exponentially, some really great games get overlooked. Sometimes, it is even more difficult, being an Independent Game developer to get your game noticed. As a new column, DroidGamers will be highlighting Indie Game Developers that show great promise in game design. What indie means can vary, but we will try to focus on smaller studios and excellent game content. First up is Eugeny Butakov, creator of the excellent motorcycle trials type game, Psebay.
Ten10 Games has delivered a classically good action platformer into the Play Store. The East New World is now available to download, and it shouldn’t be missed. The game has plenty of pixels, action, responsive controls and lots of quests to complete.
OlliOlli was developed by Roll7 and published by Devolver Digital. It was a huge hit on PC and then later on mobile devices. In particular, the Nvidia Shield devices. The sequel to OlliOlli is OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood. It is now live in the Google Play store. What is more unbelievable, is that the game is only $0.99 Keep in mind, that this game requires a controller, and more than likely, is only available for Nvidia Shield devices.
Delve through insane rings of enemies in Circa Infinity, now available for the Android Platform
For those that enjoy really crazy visuals in their games, Circa Infinity is now available for Android and has plenty of it. Players will approach this game, and play it, like a platformer, though the game doesn’t hold to the conventional approach that most platformers take. Whereas one might picture moving left to right, and jumping onto platforms or over chasms, all of that is thrown out the window.
Hibernum is a game development studio and much more. Located near the intersecting streets of Rue de Bleury and West Sainte-Catherine Street, you will find the creators of Magic: The Gathering Puzzle Quest, Bruce Lee: Enter the Game, and the soon to be released action-puzzle game, Saber’s Edge. DroidGamers had the opportunity to go behind the scenes to find out a bit more about Hibernum’s genesis and future plans. Frederick Faubert, President and Creative Director and Louis-Rene Auclair, Chief Brand Officer were kind enough to answer a few questions so that we could learn more.
One thing that the indie game development area of the gaming industry that is great is when indie developers release games that are a bit off the beaten path. This could be a game with a different visual style to it than what we normally see, or it could be a game with an odd theme to it which is the case with this new release from Esayitch called Drink Beer, Neglect Family.
So far when it comes to the Rayman franchise mobile devices have had a few runners to enjoy. However, when it comes to an actual Rayman game, like we have been used to on other platforms, there hasn’t been anything available for mobile gamers to play. That is going to be changing next week apparently.
Help the young zombie boy enjoy his favorite dumplings in Zombie Bounce, now available for download
Released by Triniti Stars Ltd, Bounce Zombie is a new arcade platformer. Players will assume the role of a young boy who feasted only on dumplings. This lasted until the village ran out, and the poor kid starved to death, rather than eat any other food. Once zombified, the undead youth now spends his time seeking out more dumplings, and won’t back down from any peril that would deter him from his goal.
If you’re a fan of arcade platformers then you will be happy to read that there is a new metroidvania style platformer out on Android called Chel-Z. In this particular game players will be assuming control of a robot named Chel-Z, who happens to be a robot capable of functioning with a human brain placed inside. You were built by the one and only Dr. Boss, a twisted mad scientist.
