One of the main developers of Minecraft: Pocket Edition and the upcoming Minecraft Pocket Realms multiplayer service Mojang will be launching held a live stream via TwitchTV a few minutes ago. While the stream was rather short, it was full of details that those of you eager to learn more about are probably wanting to know.
By now, if you play Minecraft: Pocket Edition on any sort of level and follow news regarding it, you should already know that true multiplayer will be arriving in the upcoming Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.7.0 update. This multiplayer will initially be hosted by Mojang and will be called Minecraft Realms. People who want to have their own server can pay a month fee to have one through Mojang.
Johan Bernhardsson, who is one of the main programmers working on Minecraft: Pocket Edition, has posted a quick update regarding the much anticipated 0.7.0 update which will bring true multiplayer to Minecraft: Pocket Edition through the use of Minecraft Realms. When we originally reported on the release date, it was a general sometime in April 2013.
As most Minecraft: Pocket Edition fans know, the 0.7.0 update that is on its way this April (if all goes well) will bring true multiplayer to the game. As we suspected in our previous coverage of the multiplayer functionality, it will be called Minecraft Realms.
So everyone is waiting patiently for the upcoming 0.7.0 update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition to arrive because of one main feature that will come with this update: true multiplayer. This feature has been requested numerous time by almost everyone who plays this game and now we are finally going to be getting it. Of course if you missed our last article about the 0.7.0 update then you missed some important information regarding the upcoming multiplayer features.
We’ve had a ton of comments over the last month in our previous articles outlining some of the upcoming features for the next Minecraft: Pocket Edition update regarding when the update would actually be arriving. Well we finally have a bit more of a solid idea as to when 0.7.0 will arrive as well as a lot more details regarding the official multiplayer functionality that will arrive with this update. It isn’t exactly what you may be thinking it will be.
So the Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.6.0 update has been out for a short while now (and the quick 0.6.1 bug fix update as well) and it is time to start talking about the next update which will be 0.7.0 unless Mojang decided to make it an 0.6.x version but that seems doubtful. We’ve already talked about a few features that we are pretty sure will be arriving for this next update but now we pretty much have confirmation on some of them.
While Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.6.0 has arrived in full force on both Android and iOS, MinePocket-MP has also been updated and a new development build is now available for download as well. Keeping in tune with the Minecraft: Pocket Edition version, the new version of MinePocket-MP is also labeled as 0.6.0 Alpha.
We’ve covered the 0.6.0 Minecraft: Pocket Edition update fairly extensively already in a few posts over the past couple of weeks. Well for those of you who have been eagerly waiting for the update to go live on Google Play, your wait has finally ended and you can now download the update so you can start playing with baby animals.
