For those of you waiting to grab a Tegra 4 device the moment they begin arriving for consumer consumption it looks like you will be waiting a little bit longer. nVidia’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has come out to say that their next-gen chipset won’t begin shipping until mid-July.

Another week and another blog post from the folks over at nVidia regarding their upcoming Android-powered handheld gaming system Project Shield. Previously we’ve seen Real Boxing running on Project Shield, which was last week, and the week before was Borderlands 2. This week the new game being shown off is Need for Speed: Most Wanted.
Recently nVidia decided to show off Project Shield a little bit more by loading up Borderlands 2 onto it and giving it a whirl. In the end it looked quite good and played smoothly. This time they want to show off another game running on Project Shield and that is Vivid Games’ newest title Real Boxing.
Interesting news coming from Qualcomm today where Qualcomm’s Snapdragon boss Raj Talluri came out to basically say there is no real point to nVidia’s Project Shield and that it is basically useless. Following that statement Raj Talluri went on to say that Qualcomm won’t be building anything to compete with Project Shield either and that there is no real need for a dedicated Android device for games.
We’ve talked a lot about nVidia’s upcoming handheld gaming system Project Shield already which sports a Tegra 4 chipset and will be running the latest version of Android when it’s released. We’ve also mentioned there is a separate UI which is focused on gaming where you can play games you’ve purchased on Google Play, Tegra-optimized games from Tegra Zone or PC games streamed from your PC to your Project Shield unit.
During CES 2013 and nVidia’s press conference, one of the games demoed on their upcoming Project Shield Android handheld gaming system was the Mech themed MMOFPS game Hawken by Adhesive Games. Well the two companies have teamed up once again only this time it isn’t to demo Hawken playing on Project Shield like before but instead to tease us a little more by releasing a Hawken Live Wallpaper.
During CES 2013 nVidia’s revealed their Project Shield handheld gaming console that is running Android. Also during CES 2013 nVidia’s next chipset called Tegra 4 was also announced along with a quick glimpse at a selection of games that would be arriving for Tegra 4 devices. One such title in that list was Bohemia Interactive’s Arma Tactics game.
Your Next Console Might Not Come From Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft: Mobile Gaming and its Future
Every year the Consumer Electronic Show is flooded with over caffeinated tech journalists, bloggers and enthusiasts feverishly hoping to glimpse the future of technology. It’s akin to Christmas for the world of tech. On any given year CES is the de facto for debuting PC hardware, various gizmos and the occasional gaming peripherals.
Probably one of the biggest or most surprising announcements this CES was nVidia’s Project Shield which, if you missed the announcement, is their Android-based portable gaming system that not only runs Android games (THD or other) but also PC games streamed from your PC.
Last night during the nVidia press conference it was all about gaming except for perhaps 1% which focused on photos. One of their announcements which caught a lot of people off guard was that nVidia has been working on their own portable entertainment system (let’s be real though, it’s all about gaming) called Project Shield. This little package of awesome will sport a Tegra 4 chipset and pure Android, as in no crappy secondary UI layered over it.
