Usually there is only one free app or game of the day over at the Amazon AppStore but today we are treated to a ‘Greatest Hits’ promotion where Amazon has put up some of their best free apps and games from the past year back up for free once again. The selection has some impressive titles available for free right now that you may have missed when they originally were offered up for free.

If you happen to be old enough to remember the hay days of the arcade generation, most people from that generation will remember Dragon’s Lair which happens to be available for Android for awhile now. Well Dragon’s Lair has a futuristic cousin called Space Ace and he’s also now available on Google Play.
A new retro-style arcade shooter has landed on Google Play called Vritra. Developed by Salvo Inc., this particular arcade shooter is almost a bullet hell type of shooter. We say almost because while there is a lot of bullets to dodge and shoot, there isn’t the amount you would find in a true bullet hell game but there is more than what you find in your average arcade shooter.
SNK Playmore already released Metal Slug 3 onto Android not too long ago and now they have decided to release the first game in the series as well. Metal Slug is now available on Google Play and even though it is a port, the controls have been designed for mobile gaming and can have their location customized to suit your needs.
Want more deals this holiday season? Well you’re in luck then as DotEmu has put up their three self-published titles on Google Play on sale. This sale starts today, actually right now, and goes on until December 27th, 2012 so you do have about a week to pick up either R-Type, Another World or the Raiden Legacy game pack at a discounted price. Square Enix seems to on a roll this week, first with their rather big sale for the holidays that is currently going on right now, then releasing a trailer to tease us about Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V and future games. Developed by Capybara Games, Superbrothers Swords & Sworcery is now available to give you a visual and audio adventure straight from your Android phone without having had to buy the Humble Bundle 4 for Android.

A new game development studio coming out of London called Super Icon have announced that they will be developing games for the Playstation Mobile platform, along with other mobile platforms such as iOS and Android non-Playstation Certified devices. Super Icon already has two games in the works that look to bring back the memories of the old school gaming days long since passed.
A couple of weeks ago we talked about a new Kairosoft game that hit the Japanese Google Play store called Kingdom Pyramid Excavation. True to Kairosoft’s rather swift turnaround time when it comes to bringing their games to international waters, Kingdom Pyramid Excavation is now available for everyone but it is under a new name for its international release, The Pyraplex.
