Amazon’s AppStore is turning two years old and to celebrate Amazon is throwing a week long sale on a variety of games (and some apps too) with discounts starting at 50% off their regular price while some discounts are even higher than that. The games and apps that are available for sale are from a wide range of genres.

Electronic Arts released not too long ago a dedicated widget for gamers to use in order to keep track of all the sales EA tends to have with their ‘Daily Deals’ promotion. This widget landed on Google Play in November 2012 and after basically three months of being live on Google Play, EA has retired the Daily Deals widget.
You may remember the Minecraft style FPS game we were talking about early last year called Brick Force. Since the game’s release, it has undergone a lot of updates and has received added content to make it quite an enjoyable game to play on your PC. However, when we were talking about Brick Force, we were mentioning that it would be receiving a companion application for Android devices to use.
For whatever particular reason Epic Games has decided to release a new video showing off Epic Citadel on Android but this time on Intel’s Z2580 dual-core Atom processor. Recently release onto Google Play, Epic Citadel is basically an interactive tech demo where users can move around and explore some of the areas in the universe where the Infinity Blade series takes place, this mostly being a castle and the town inside the walls of said castle.
Yesterday, as probably most of you are aware of, Sony held their Playstation event where the company announced their next console, the Playstation 4. The press conference, which seemed to last forever, also featured a lot of information on mobile aspects that the console will bring with its release. While most of it was focused on the PS Vita, there was some interesting news regarding Android smartphones and tablets as well.
Rooted users have had the privilege to back-up all their games’ progress using apps such as Titanium Backup and My Backup. Now, ClockworkMod allows non-rooted users to join in the fun as well with the release of their new app called Carbon (not to be confused with the equally recent Twitter client sharing the same name).
We’ve talked numerous times in the past how Epic and their games division have not released, nor ever had plans to release, anything on Google Play. It’s been a topic of conversation here on the site plenty of times and how we have always felt that it is stupid that they don’t release anything for Android, only iOS. So imagine our surprise when we got a tip saying that Epic Citadel was now available on Google Play.
When we talk about emulators it is generally because there is a new one out that is emulating a new system such as the PPSSPP emulator. However, there is a new kid in town and he’s throwing his weight around like it’s nobody’s business. Why is that? Well that is because RetroArch is like the Swiss Army Knife of emulators featuring a multitude of systems you can play on your Android device.
Usually there is only one free app or game of the day over at the Amazon AppStore but today we are treated to a ‘Greatest Hits’ promotion where Amazon has put up some of their best free apps and games from the past year back up for free once again. The selection has some impressive titles available for free right now that you may have missed when they originally were offered up for free.
Google has begun their own version of celebrating the holiday season and although it isn’t a crazy sale like when the Google Play store passed 10 billion downloads or anything like that, what Google is doing is still pretty cool. Starting today, Google is giving away holiday surprises through the Google Play store and it isn’t just something like free apps or games.
