The recently released Xbox Smartglass application from Microsoft received an update yesterday that brings with it support for 7″ Android tablets. Up until now the Xbox Smartglass application was only available for Android phones and even then it wasn’t every phone but at least it was available for a good portion of them. Tablets, on the other hand, were completely left out in the dark.

TeePee Games have unveiled a project that they have been working on for awhile behind closed doors called GamesGrabr, or gamesGRABR if you want to get technical with the spelling. What this service offers up is a Pinterest-style social network, pretty much like Pinterest, but completely geared towards games and gamers. This platform will span across multiple platforms to include games from consoles, PC, Android and iOS. GamesGrabr will also have a dedicated app for Android and iOS devices when it officially launches.
Two days ago Call of Duty fans were finally able to get their hands on the next installment in the Call of Duty: Black Ops series of games, appropriately named Black Ops II. Well along with this new release of Black Ops II, Activision have updated their Call of Duty Elite service to support their new Black Ops II game and that also means that the Elite application has also been update.
Green Throttle controller and console system announced, coming from the creator of Guitar Heroes
If there are not enough new controllers coming out onto the market right now that peak your interest, such as the SteelSeries FREE, MOGA or Nyko controllers, then you’ll be happy to know there is at least one more heading our way coming from a newly announced company called Green Throttle. This company was created by one of the creators of Guitar Heroes and some mobile gaming industry veterans. The goal, however, isn’t just to make a new controller but to turn your Android phone or tablet into a true gaming console.
Back during E3 2012 a new company had come out and announced a new line-up of game controllers specifically designed for mobile gaming. This company, Nyko, had done some good work researching and designing their upcoming mobile gaming controllers from what we had seen back then. Now, we finally can get our hands on some as both the Nyko PlayPad and the Nyko PlayPad Pro Tablet controllers are now available for purchase at GameStop.
2K Games surpised us a couple of week ago when they decided to quietly release NBA 2K13 onto Android. Now they have gone a step further and have quietly released a companion application for NBA 2K13 called MyNBA2K. This companion app isn’t really for the Android version of the game but instead extends your NBA 2K13 experience on Xbox 360, PS3 and the Wii U. In fact it can connect back to the game regardless of what console you’re playing it on.
Back in April of this year, Dialect released a tablet-only news applications that was focused on the entertainment industry with a bit more of a dedicated focus to gaming including that of Android gaming. The app was impressively made and featured a lot of dynamic content inside of it but unfortunately, if you only owned an Android phone, you were unable to get this app. That, however, is not the case anymore.
There are plenty of applications out there that deal with game discovering such as Hooked but there is a new one out now that basically turns game discovery into a game itself called Giftiz. Developed by Purple Brain, Giftiz is an interesting little game discovery platform where as you find and play games, completing missions, and you will earn experience points. Using these points, you will be able to level your account up.
Everyone loves old school gaming, and thanks in part to the magic of emulation, you can literally carry hundreds of retro games from consoles past right in your pocket. Unfortunately these emulators don’t have much flair in the design department and loading a ROM boils down to a folder browsing experience. Functional but not pretty to look at.Thankfully, developers Jack Patrick and Shouvik Dutta created Gameshelf, an app that catalogs your ROM collections into an aesthetically pleasing interface.
The much anticipated re-branded and expanded Playstation Suite, now known as Playstation Mobile, will be going live today for those of you in the Eastern time zone as of the time of writing this. The rest of us on the west will be waiting a few hours but regardless, Playstation Mobile will be going live along with all of its features.
