Borderlands is a well established gaming franchise, focusing on first person shooting with some RPG elements. It uses the cell shading that it’s well known for, along with quirky humor. When it was announced several months ago that it was being ported over to Android, on Nvidia hardware to be specific, I was thrilled, having enjoyed both the original as well as the sequel. This game is easily as good as the others, though my experience playing it wasn’t.
One of the highly anticipated games many people have been waiting for is Borderlands 2 for the Nvidia Shield devices. Starting today, you can download Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on Shield Android TV and enjoy a pivotal chapter in the story of Pandora. Borderlands 2, launched in 2012, was what you might call “a big deal.” The series had earned itself a number of fans ahead of that point, certainly, but the second installment in the series brought with it an explosion in popularity. There were numerous reasons for that growth, and one of them was a memorable villain in the form of Handsome Jack.
Borderlands as a franchise has done well for itself, crossing into every platform with at least some sort of game so that no matter what you are playing on, you have access to a Borderlands game. Now the franchise is crossing another media line and this time it is in the movie industry.
One game that a lot of current and future Shield Android TV owners are looking forward to happens to be the upcoming Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel game. This particular installment into the franchise will be taking place on Pandora’s Moon with four new classes to learn and play as while looking for all the loot you can carry.
Once again it is time for another installment into our Fun Fridays series and this week we have some pretty cool video game related things to check out like always. This week we have everything from a life-size Pac-Man game to a tiny Minecraft: Pocket Edition themed stylus and some cool things in between. Great news for all the Borderlands franchise fans out there! The newly announced Borderlands Online for PC will also be coming to mobile! However the bad news is that the release of this game for PC and mobile has been announced for China only right now.
Borderlands 2 has been available on the PS Vita for a week now (if you bought the Vita Slim bundle). While it may be the only handheld to run the game natively, it is not the only handheld Borderlands 2 can be played on. The NVIDIA Shield offers PC streaming of many games, and Borderlands 2 is one of them. I happen to be in a very small camp of people who own both systems and I’ve given both of them a try.
TellTale Games and Gearbox are apparently working on a new series of adventure games themed around the Borderlands world called Tales from theBorderlands. This new story-driven episodic adventure game series is currently slated for release sometime in 2014.
