The developer of the ubiquitous Havok engine has a new home under the Microsoft banner. On October 2nd, the Redmond tech giant purchased the Dublin firm from Intel corps for an undisclosed sum of money. Swift to assuage industry fears that the move would bring the popular Havok engine in-house only, Microsoft put forth this statement on their blog.
Up until now the next iteration of Android has simply been known as Android M. That, however, has changed today as Google has made it official that Android 6.0 will be called Android Marshmallow. Chukong Technologies has announced that Cocos2d-JS has merged into Cocos2d-x to form Voltron… er… the new Cocos2d v3.7 update which is now available for download. For those of you not familiar with Cocos, this is basically one of the largest and most popular game development engines for mobile games. According to Chukong Technologies, Cocos now has over 490,000 registered mobile game developers and over 16,000 published titles.
At Pocket Gamer Connect DeNA West CEO Shintaro Asako went into a little more detail about what Nintendo’s plans are going to be regarding game releases for mobile devices. While the company recently went into a bit more detail on how they are thinking of monetizing their upcoming mobile games, they didn’t touch on what games, what genres, or how many at that time. However, now we know just a little bit more, which seems to be the pattern now.

Bloxels is a new system that is looking for funding on Kickstarter and this system aims to allow even the most code-illiterate kids and adults the ability to make video games.
