One of the main developers of Minecraft: Pocket Edition and the upcoming Minecraft Pocket Realms multiplayer service Mojang will be launching held a live stream via TwitchTV a few minutes ago. While the stream was rather short, it was full of details that those of you eager to learn more about are probably wanting to know.
So the Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.6.0 update has been out for a short while now (and the quick 0.6.1 bug fix update as well) and it is time to start talking about the next update which will be 0.7.0 unless Mojang decided to make it an 0.6.x version but that seems doubtful. We’ve already talked about a few features that we are pretty sure will be arriving for this next update but now we pretty much have confirmation on some of them.
We’ve covered the 0.6.0 Minecraft: Pocket Edition update fairly extensively already in a few posts over the past couple of weeks. Well for those of you who have been eagerly waiting for the update to go live on Google Play, your wait has finally ended and you can now download the update so you can start playing with baby animals.
We have a double shot of Minecraft: Pocket Edition news to go over this morning and the first chunk of news comes from one of the main developers working on Minecraft: Pocket Edition who goes by the name Johan Bernhardsson who just did a quick livestream on TwitchTV with Daniel Kaplan with both of them showing off some of the new features coming in the 0.6.0 update.
Well we have been reporting on an update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition we have labeled as the 0.5.1 update, which is what this was supposed to be, but now Mojang has turned around and labeled this update as the official 0.6.0 update instead. That means everything in the 0.5.1 update we have been talking about will actually arrive as 0.6.0. This also means that everything we were talking about before as coming in the 0.6.0 update will actually arrive in 0.7.0. Confusing isn’t it?
Minecraft: Pocket Edition players know that Mojang is working on true online multiplayer that could arrive as soon as the 0.6.0 update if all goes well. However, up until now, and until that update comes out, we’ve been trying various ways to create a true Minecraft: Pocket Edition server whether it be hosted off your device or on a PC. We’ve seen a few projects aiming towards this goal but now it seems one has actually accomplished this and it’s called PocketMine-MP.
More Minecraft: Pocket Edition 0.5.1 update news: Armor probably coming and new blocks for Creative Mode
Every time we near a Minecraft: Pocket Edition update we tend to see more news rolling out via Twitter and the developers on there that happen to be working on the game. Just as we posted yesterday about what we know is confirmed for the next 0.5.1 update, more details came to light right after that. So let’s recap what we now know including new details regarding the next Minecraft: Pocket Edition update.
Minecraft: Pocket Edition News – Online Multiplayer in development, next update will be 0.5.1, Signs and Armor
There have been some tidbits of information about Minecraft: Pocket Edition regarding future features and updates from one the main developers on the project, Johan Bernhardsson. While we have news on the next update that will arrive for Minecraft: Pocket Edition and what it will come with, what we are really excited about is what Johan has been working on aside from the next update.
About a week and a half ago we talked about the next Minecraft: Pocket Edition update that would be heading our way soon. It was going to be coming with a pretty unique feature called the Nether Reactor which is basically an end-game, due to the materials need to build it, type of item you can construct. Well, for those of us who have waited patiently, the 0.5.0 update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition is now live for downloading.
