Originally created by Rob Dougherty (Co-founder of Ascension) and Darwin Kastle, Star Realms is a card game that has been digitally converted to Android. Star realms is a fairly simple card game with a SciFi setting. This was the first time I’ve played a digital card game. Having enjoyed CCGs/LCGs/TCGs for years (I love even the smell of new cards… you die-hards will know what I mean), I was curious as to how the experience would translate to a touch screen. For the uninitiated, the idea is that you and your opponent(s) have a deck of cards that are custom to the game being played, with a framework of rules that cards can expand upon, as well as the cards taking the place of pieces, counters, and often times a board (such is the case here).
Back during CES 2015 we got to sit down with Gameloft and go hands-on with their upcoming addition to their Dungeon Hunter franchise, that being Dungeon Hunter 5. If you are into interesting statistics then here is one for you. Video games Super Bowl ads generally make an appearance every year and this one was no except. In terms of numbers though, this year was a little different. PC/console games had a total of zero ads during this Super Bowl. Mobile games, however, has a total of three ads and you can probably guess at least one of the games that had an ad since it normally has TV ads as well.
More Hearthstone news today for all of you players out there but this time the news comes in the form of an update to the game itself. The new Maraad card back has been added to the game for those of you who collect them by ranking 20 or higher every month.
Blizzard’s popular TCG called Hearthstone was finally released onto Android back in December 2014 along with the new Goblins vs Gnomes content update for the game on all platforms. For everyone who had been waiting for this game to arrive but happen to not own a tablet, launch day for Hearthstone was a bit of a bitter sweet time. It meant that the game is finally out but for tablets only, putting it one step closer to having the game optimized for Android phones but without a tablet (or supported phablet) you still have to wait.
