Pokemon GO has become something of a strange phenomena in that the franchise itself, Pokemon, has been around for quite some time. Now with the release of a single game within the franchise, the world has somewhat lost their minds trying to find Pokemon in real world locations. This has lead to an onslaught of strange, fake, humorous, and scary stories popping up online since the game’s release. It has also revealed some interesting facts about the game.

Pokemon GO is an interesting game, not because the game itself is actually interesting, but because of the stories this game has already created in the very short time it has been out. Some of these stories are serious and real, others try to be serious and real, while others are complete jokes meant to make people laugh. Whatever the case may be, there’s already a ton of them out there to read and here are some of the more interesting, albeit stranger, stories surrounding Pokemon GO.
Pokémon GO has been available in the United States for only one day, and already memes are abound about how players will likely be led into unfamiliar urban spaces (read: “ghetto”) in the pursuit of Pokémon and Pokémon gyms.
It isn’t always serious with the big development companies when it comes to work. Square Enix Montreal, the team behind Lara Croft Go, Hitman GO, and the upcoming Deus Ex GO, just released a parody video clip of their idea of Pokemon GO. Needless to say, it is a bit different than the current one from Niantic Labs.
[UPDATE: Release Update] Pokemon GO beta begins in the US as of today, more details revealed as well
So far we have had a pretty good look at Niantic Labs upcoming Pokemon GO game and what will all be arriving with it. For the past few weeks, there has been a bit of a closed beta/field test going on over in Australia and a couple other locations. Today begins the US version of the beta testing and Niantic Labs has gone ahead and revealed more details about the combat mechanics to come with Pokemon GO.

Back in April Niantic Labs started up the ‘Field Test’ for Pokemon GO, which is essentially a closed beta. When that started, it was only available in a few select regions, such as Australia and New Zealand. Today the company has expanded that beta testing phase to include the USA and that means that sign-ups are now open.
Niantic Labs’ upcoming Pokemon GO game now has another video showing off some of the gameplay you’ll find when the game is officially released. So far we have had a very short video that was leaked from SXSW 2016 showing a little bit of the gameplay, which looked rather over-simplified. Shortly after that, within days, Niantic Labs released additional details and screenshots for Pokemon GO.
In other Pokemon related news, gamers everywhere, or at least Pokemon fans, lost their collective minds when Pokemon GO was announced last year. Niantic, the company behind the upcoming title, is now expanding field testing for Pokemon Go to Australia and New Zealand.
Niantic Lab’s upcoming Pokemon GO game gets first details and official screenshots released today
Whether this is a result of the video that was posted on YouTube recently showing some of the gameplay coming in Pokemon GO, which was taken from Niantic Lab’s talk during SXSW 2016, or because of the company cancelling their GDC 2016 talk and gameplay reveal, we don’t know. It could also be due to the questions that have arisen since that video’s release about the depth of the gameplay, or possible lack thereof. However, the timing on releasing the first details regarding Pokemon GO’s gameplay and its first screenshots is pretty impeccable.
