Ironhide Game Studios has crafted one of the more popular tower defense games in recent history. It began with Kingdom Rush, and then they followed it up with Kingdom Rush Frontiers. Earlier this summer, we heard rumblings about a new game coming our way. The news has been quiet, but today, a new video has emerged, via Ironhide Game Studio’s Twitter feed. The video lets us know that Kingdom Rush Origins will be out this fall. We still don’t know much about the game, but it is always good to hear that things are still progressing well, when it comes to a new game.
EA’s Plants vs Zombies 2 has received a new content update called Big Wave Beach Part 2. Anytime I hear the name Ubisoft mentioned, I always focus my attention on the story. The game developer has a long successful history in creating dynamic console games, as well as mobile games. A few weeks ago, word of a new Assassin’s Creed game (Assassin’s Creed: Identity) in development for Android/iOS, seemingly appeared out of nowhere. This week, it has been announced, that a new game from the Ubisoft Shanghai Studio will arrive next week. The game is called The Bot Squad: Puzzle Battles. It will arrive in the Play Store October 16th.
Noodlecake Games is continuing the steady stream of solid game releases onto Android with their newest release today called Tower Dwellers. This is a pretty unique game that isn’t totally just a tower defense title. It actually plays out like more of a RTS game than anything but does have tower defense mechanics meshed into it.
11-Bit Studios is gearing up to release what will be the last chapter in the Anomaly series called Anomaly Defenders. Originally this game was released onto Steam back in May of this year and we had hoped that the Android version would also launch at around the same time. Unfortunately that didn’t happen but the wait appears to be ending soon as 11-Bit Studios has announced that Anomaly Defenders will be landing on Android next week.
Tower Defense and Tower Offense games are something that Android has no shortage of. Every once in a while though, one will come along that looks like it’s been done right. Toy Rush, released by Uber Entertainment, looks to be one of those games.
Interview with Lead Game Designer René Laurent of SuperHippo Games about their latest game Pirate Legends TD
SuperHippo Games, based in Ireland, released Pirate Legends TD late last week in the Play Store. Yes, I know what you are thinking. There are an abundance of tower defense games out there. However, few of them take place on the high seas and are full of such robust action as displayed in Pirate Legends. I was given the opportunity to find out more about the game, the company that produced it and how SuperHippo plans to impact the mobile gaming arena. René Laurent, Lead Game Designer for Pirate Legends TD was gracious enough to answer a few questions for me.
