We have finally updated our app this afternoon which, for some of you, is something you have been hoping to have happen for awhile now. You may have seen us mentioning on G+ that we are redesigning the app with a whole new look. That isn’t this update. What this update is for is to get ready for that one which will be coming soon. We use YouTube a lot here at DroidGamers, whether it be posting trailers from other developer’s channels, or posting trailers and gameplay videos from our own channel, and now even uploading previous TwitchTV streams to YouTube. So with YouTube’s announcement of a paid subscription where people can pay to view videos without the ads, you could now watch everything without the ads. This is especially good for the long TwitchTV streams we have, and will continue to, upload onto YouTube. Content creators also need to know the details regarding this new feature.
TwitchTV has updated their Android app today and this update brings a couple of great features to the app, one of which has been sorely needed. This new update brings the Persistent Player to the app which basically means that video will now continue to play while you re browsing for content.
The ‘Wild West’ style of Google Play is ending, Google will be reviewing apps developers upload
One thing that has always been great about Google Play is that developers can immediate publish their applications and games right to the market without any wait time at all. The same goes for updates that need to be pushed to their existing apps and games. We’ve been following the development of PocketMine since it was created, even using it in our own Minecraft: Pocket Edition server. It has come a long way since its inception, now having a plug-in library, mod tools and all sorts of other goodies. There was regular communication between Mojang developers and Shoghi Cervantes, the developer behind PocketMine, on Twitter quite often. So it should be as no surprise that Mojang has finally brought Shogi on board.
Companion Applications are an interesting concept in a lot of ways because you’re basically trying to take advantage of the mobile gaming industry, and the gaming industry in general, by extending the functionality of your game to include mobile devices. This could be for a lot of reasons and done in many ways, whether it is actually useful features, a second screen feature, news and update, and whatever else a developer can think up in order to make their games look like there is a lot more features to it then there actually is.
