Freemium titles are popular these days, well, because they’re free. Add the enticing combination of Ninjas and Martial arts tournament fighting and the formula almost solves itself. It’s a cash cow. Shadow Fight 2 has garnered a whopping 5,000,000 downloads in less than half of a month, taking a sharp katana to the face of existing premium fighting titles already in the marketplace. The franchise’s humble beginning started on facebook and had a very successful run on iOS devices, so the momentum was already primed for an Android release. Shadow Fight 2 eventually snuck its way onto Android to a not so stealthy response, but more akin to sake enriched Sumo wrestler in a China shop. So far for developers Nekki, Shadow Fight 2 has been a total success on the Android platform.
A couple of months ago I came across the sequel to one of the platformers I enjoyed playing, Manuganu. Manuganu 2 was released on iOS and I was hopeful that it would make its way to Android as did its predecessor. A few days ago, independent game designer Alper Sarikaya, informed us that Manuganu 2 had indeed arrived in the Play Store.
If you’re a fan of tower defense games (and there’s a LOT to choose from on Android), Incoming! I’m sure some of you may be puzzled by this… I was. Batman: Arkham Origins showed up in the Play Store a few weeks ago. However, it said that it wasn’t compatible with my devices. I was kind of bummed out by this because I finally have devices that can run it graphically. So, like I do with most games that I want to play that may be in a soft launch or have exclusivity with a particular device, I added it to my wish list.
Dengen Chronicles TCG is a trading card game created by Mangatar that was originally released on Windows Phone, and is now available on Android. In this game, players use virtual cards against those of another player in a form of combat. The game is exclusively PvP, with no solo missions or story mode that I encountered.
Every now and then it is a good idea to take on new gaming challenges in different genres. It helps to keep the mind sharp. MAG Interactive, the team behind the original word game Ruzzle, which has been downloaded by over fifty million people returns to the Play Store with a new game entitled Ruzzle Adventure. If you enjoyed the first Ruzzle game, this one throws in a few new twists and is as full of word challenges as its predecessor. This time around the game is single player, but social components are still built in for you to enjoy.
Kongregate, the developers that also brought Game of Thrones Ascent to Android have released another game called Lionheart Tactics. The game is a tactical RPG that uses 3D graphics and turn-based gameplay.
Retaliate is a simple space shooter game, a la Galaga. Your ship is locked to the bottom of the screen, and the hostile alien ships attack you from above. The graphics are simple and low end, similar to other classic arcade games.
Colossal is one of many words that can be used to describe the game that will be released 09.09.2014. Bungie’s latest project Destiny will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The game will be grand in scale to say the least. If there ever were a need for a companion app for a game, this would be the game. You are in luck because the companion app is available now in the Play Store, which coincides with the launch of the Beta that has just begun.
