It’s April Fools Day – YouTube shutting down, Google Treasure Maps, Nokia Microwaves and more

There is one day a year where the world tends to devolve back to when we were 10 years old and pulling pranks and jokes on other people is the standard policy of the day. That day is today April 1st, or otherwise known as April Fools Day for the comically inclined people out there. If you don’t have a sense of humor, this is the worst day of the year for you. For the rest of us, it is a day of launching or getting laughed at.

OUYA already has over 100 games confirmed for launch

Some more news regarding the Android-powered console OUYA but this time it isn’t about the hardware or anything like that. Instead it is about the games that will be available for people to play when the console begins shipping to the masses. As of last night there are a 104 games already confirmed for OUYA when the console begins shipping to consumers.

UK retailer GAME has OUYA pre-order live on their site

The UK retailer GAME has the Android-powered console available for pre-orders through the company’s website as of this morning. The pre-orders, which currently have no shipping date attached to it, are available for £99 for those of you who want to pre-order one for the first line of shipping for people who didn’t back the console’s Kickstarter campaign.

GameStick will be supporting XBMC when it launches

PlayJam’s GameStick has a little more news today and it is in regards to XBMC support which this portable Android-powered gaming console will come with when it launches. XBMC was originally created for the Xbox as a media hub but instead it wound up getting released as open source software media player people can use on their PCs or Macs.

This past January, the young Hong Kong-based startup, Phonejoy, publicly displayed their first Kickstarter project, the Phonejoy Play, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Frustrated by the lack of adequate Android gaming hardware, the duo of Martin and Alex founded Phonejoy in 2011 and set out to create the best gamepad for Android devices. In doing so, they created the original Phonejoy (or Phonejoy Analog), a Bluetooth controller for Android devices. Executing on what others had failed to do at the time.
