The rather popular Playstation emulator for Android called ePSXe has been updated to version 1.8.9 and along with this update comes some pretty nice improvements, especially if you own an Xperia Play device. If you own an Xperia Play, ePSXe now supports your device’s touchpad should you be in the need to use it.

OUYA is nearing its official launch date, at least for backers of the rather successful Kickstarter campaign it had, with units slated to ship out on March 28th, 2013 to those who backed the appropriate level to receive an early unit. It appears that plenty of emulators are being worked on for the Android-powered console, most of which are Nintendo-based emulators.
When we talk about emulators it is generally because there is a new one out that is emulating a new system such as the PPSSPP emulator. However, there is a new kid in town and he’s throwing his weight around like it’s nobody’s business. Why is that? Well that is because RetroArch is like the Swiss Army Knife of emulators featuring a multitude of systems you can play on your Android device.
ResidualVM is another emulator that is a cross-platform 3D interpreter which allows you to play LucasArts’ Lua-based 3D adventures games and has had a team working on it for awhile now. As with all things relating to emulators, the inevitable question arises about an Android version. Well it seems some users over on the ResidualVM forums have taken it upon themselves to unofficially port the emulator over in the hopes that the ResidualVM team picks it up and makes an official version from it. However, the unofficial version works very well and you can grab it and play a little Grim Fandango on your Android device if you’re up for it.
Recently we reviewed the new MOGA gaming controller which, as a controller, is excellent and works quite well for pretty much any of your gaming needs whether it be on a phone, clipped into the MOGA, or on your tablet as a wireless Bluetooth controller. However, the MOGA controller requires you to use the Pivot app which, as an app, is rather nice but does have some issues. A recent update the other day fixed a few of these issues though.
Back in the days of emulating consoles on your PC, a giant slowly rose from the very bottom to give us a nice and compatible experience in the field of PSX emulation. Almost everyone who used a Playstation had innumerable hours with emulators after that small (or big and squared) piece of hardware got burnt out after so much playing. Now, a well known emulator comes back to life in the form of an Android app, meet ePSXe…again.
While we did report Nintendo’s issue with mobile gaming on smartphones and tablets a few days back, it seems as though the console giant is ready to make a peace offering. According to Engadget, Nintendo’s patent for emulating their games on devices with a built-in screen has been granted.
You can never have enough emulators to get that old school gaming fix we all seem to love. That is why it is always good to see developers working on new ones for us to play with and today we get to see the release of another NeoGeo emulator called NEO.emu.
If you have been in the Android scene for any amount of time then you have probably heard of CyanogenMod or ClockworkMod. Well a member of the CyanogenMod team, a rather well known member of the Android community, “Koush” has announced he is developing an alternative Android Market for banned applications.
At the time of its injunction, mobile gaming has bunkered on lowest level of video game caste system. Regarded worthwhile only to pass the time while waiting on line, cell phone games have been casually dismissed by hard core gamers as time wasters. Not fit to fly under the banner of video games, cell phone games also felt the same discrimination from their mobile cousins, the Nintendo and Sony handhelds.
