Microsoft’s Xbox Smartglass updated with 7″ tablet support and bug fixes

The recently released Xbox Smartglass application from Microsoft received an update yesterday that brings with it support for 7″ Android tablets. Up until now the Xbox Smartglass application was only available for Android phones and even then it wasn’t every phone but at least it was available for a good portion of them. Tablets, on the other hand, were completely left out in the dark.

Electronic Arts launches a dedicated widget for their EA Daily Deals

Based off of their Daily Deals website, Electronic Arts has developed and released a dedicated widget that will deliver up-to-the-minute listings of deals straight to the home screen on your Android device. When you launch the widget, you will have a scrolling list of deals that, when you click on the one you’re interested in, will take you right to the appropriate page so you can snap up a copy of that game quickly before the deal ends.

Reviews on Google Play will now display your Google+ profile

Good news for Android developers this morning who are a bit sick of facing the trolls on the Google Play store who leaving rather harsh comments in the reviews section of any given listing on Google Play. It was mentioned that this would be arriving and it is now here where should you leave a review on the Google Play store, it will post your name that you use on your Google+ account along with your profile picture. This is a mandatory new Google+ integration and should you not have a Google+ account, you won’t be able to leave comments and reviews.

Amazon releases plug-ins for their Mobile App SDK and Unity3D for in-app purchasing

Amazon has release new plug-ins for the Unity3D engine which will allow developers to easily integrate Amazon’s in-app purchasing and Amazon’s GameCircle APIs into games being developed using the Unity engine. While this was possible already, it certainly was a lot harder and took a lot more time to integrate these features into Unity built games that were slated for release onto Amazon’s AppStore.

Sony trying to lure indie devs to Playstation Mobile with $99 official SDK offering

Up until now the SDK for developers to use when developing their games for the new Playstation Mobile platform has been in beta and basically free. Now Sony has given the SDK the green light and instead of charging an arm and a leg for the SDK, developers are only required to pay an annual fee of $99. This allows developers to publish as many games as they like to the Playstation Mobile platform, both for Android devices and the PS Vita.

TeePee Games unveils GamesGrabr, a Pinterest-style service for games

TeePee Games have unveiled a project that they have been working on for awhile behind closed doors called GamesGrabr, or gamesGRABR if you want to get technical with the spelling. What this service offers up is a Pinterest-style social network, pretty much like Pinterest, but completely geared towards games and gamers. This platform will span across multiple platforms to include games from consoles, PC, Android and iOS. GamesGrabr will also have a dedicated app for Android and iOS devices when it officially launches.

Call of Duty Elite app updated to support Black Ops II, includes live streaming.

Two days ago Call of Duty fans were finally able to get their hands on the next installment in the Call of Duty: Black Ops series of games, appropriately named Black Ops II. Well along with this new release of Black Ops II, Activision have updated their Call of Duty Elite service to support their new Black Ops II game and that also means that the Elite application has also been update.

The PSP Emulator called PPSSPP has arrived onto Google Play, still in early prototype form

At the beginning of this month we talked about a new emulator being developed by the same folk who created the rather widely used fully working Wii emulator called Dolphin for PCs and that they were now working on building a fully functioning emulator called PPSSPP which would let you play all those favorite PSP games you still own. At the time of reporting on this, PPSSPP was only available for download through the developer’s website.

Nyko’s PlayPad and PlayPad Pro controllers on sale now at GameStop

Back during E3 2012 a new company had come out and announced a new line-up of game controllers specifically designed for mobile gaming. This company, Nyko, had done some good work researching and designing their upcoming mobile gaming controllers from what we had seen back then. Now, we finally can get our hands on some as both the Nyko PlayPad and the Nyko PlayPad Pro Tablet controllers are now available for purchase at GameStop.
