OrangePixel has basically started a tradition with giving away a full free game every year when Summer starts as a way to say thank you to everyone who has supported them. This year is no different and their Summer freebie is called Sketchbook Squad and this freebie also comes integrated with Google Play Games services.

Heavy Sword is a new retro-inspired platformer from Monster Robot Studios. The game combines great modernized SNES-era graphics with traditional platforming elements to create a solid game that is worth playing. The game borrows heavily from the classics in the genre, but does this end up helping or hindering it from being a must play experience?
One game a lot of people used to play back in the Apple II days was a game called Karateka. For those of you not familiar with this game, Karateka has been around for almost 30 years and is a side-scrolling martial arts action game. The developers have actually brought the game over in pretty much its original condition which should please the purists out there.
A new development studio has debuted on Android today and has come out rather strong with their first game release Heavy Sword. This particular game is a retro style Action-Platformer that borrows some cues from games we used to play on consoles and PC.
Sega has released, as a bit of a surprise, the original Sonic The Hedgehog game onto Google Play this morning. While this is the original game, the visuals have been remastered as well as support for widescreen resolution, sporting a smooth 60 frames-per-second or at least that is what Sega is claiming.
Kemco has released another retro style RPG onto Google Play this morning called Bonds of the Skies. While their last release was a trial run for the free-to-play business model, Bonds of the Skies goes back to the paid game model install. Like most of their previous released, Bonds of the Skies is a pretty big RPG title to work your way through.

If you’re a fan of comic books then you are probably familiar with Valiant’s rather cool crossover event called Harbinger Wars. Well the comic is now available as a retro style platformer called Harbinger Wars: Battle Vegas which follows the events that actually happen in the crossover series.
We haven’t talked about Amazon’s free app/game of the day for awhile, mostly because even though the games or applications being offered up free each day are pretty decent, we figure most people check it on a regular basis anyways. However, once in awhile a title pops up that is one that most people should probably snag a copy of and today’s free game is one of those titles.
Way back in December of last year we talked about Noodlecake Studios who had begun teasing a rather cool retro style arcade games called Punch Quest. Well after some time in development, Punch Quest has finally made its way onto the Google Play store so we can all enjoy plenty of face punching fun.
